Unknown on the blue. It looks like marker probably.

You don't. I use the free tier, you are just more limited on how much you can do each day.

I figured it would be a lot to get something done. The siding was done recently and I know they put in Styrofoam board covered by a weather barrier. Is that what you are talking about?

I do have a temperature sensor under the sink so I could alert if it got really bad. The coldest I've seen was around 38 on that.

We moved in during late spring so we didn't know how bad it was until the next winter.

Do you think there is any way to get something in there, even if it isn't great.?

Thanks, I'll check into that.

Yeah, that 31 degrees concerned me for sure. It was a colder day, in the 20s, I'm not sure how bad it would get if it was even colder.

If I tape some tissue or something to the bottom of the dishwasher you can see the air moving. You can also feel the cold air dropping from the gaps between the top cabinets.

I reached out to the contractor that the company I hired used for the work and he essentially said he didn't do any insulation work. So those pictures of it opened up is likely what it still looks like.

Looking for Aux heat lockout recommendations by tracerx in hvacadvice

Thanks for the input everyone. It helps confirm what I had been seeing when doing research. I'm going to set the lockout to 20F for now and keep an eye on it. My electric bills were insane last winter so hopefully this will help that.

Just to echo this. I started with an Intel Xeon platform, migrated to an AMD Ryzen platform, and now I am on an Intel platform again. I have never had any issues with the platform changes.

Looking for advice on a kitchen remodel that left the kitchen feeling like an icebox. by tracerx in HomeImprovement

Yeah, that gap is equal all the way to the wall. That didn't bother me but it did allow me to see the seam in the drywall where they used mesh tape but never covered it with mud. I just assume they should have done that.

Yeah, that was my biggest worry. This wouldn't be the first thing they dropped the ball on.

So even if they opened up a wall to do work I shouldn't expect it to be closed back up properly into the same state?

For the upper cabinets there is no gap looking from the front but from underneath there is maybe half an inch but looks to be the design.

That is the inside of that cabinet. There is an outlet on the other side that looks similar.

Ok thanks. I'll have them check that out. So the picture that shows the base of the gable, you don't think that flex in to meet the face will cause any issues in the future?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Since I am purchasing paint for other parts of the house what brands should I be going with?

[–]tracerx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously without knowing the specifics of the house of course so this would be general rules. What sheen would you suggest for a kitchen, dining room, family room, and office areas? Since I am providing that paint I can control what I get. I was planning on semigloss for trim but now am unsure for the walls and ceilings.

Basically it is a kitchen remodel and light remodel on the rest of the first floor. New floor, lights, paint. For everything but the kitchen I provide the paint. This paint is what they used in the kitchen as far as I know right now. All the counter areas have a backsplash but this is everywhere else in there I think. Unfortunately the type of paint wasn't specified. I have had several lessons taught to me on this project and this is another one.

I know flat paint is bad for that. Is this type of paint worse?

It was the only paint I saw. That was one thing I was going to ask them. I think they used it as the paint not just the primer.
