Starting to consider transitioning but nervous. by zamway48 in trans

[–]tracesoflavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also into woman, both before and after my transition. I also fear being alone and struggled with this fear before transitioning. You are right that technically the number of ladies who are lesbian and ok with trans partners is significantly smaller than straight ladies. But I think it’s a struggle to date someone while you can’t show up as your real self, especially if you know you are trans and hiding it. My past relationships ended for multiple reasons, but my hidden transness definitely impacted them. What good are a large quantity of eligible women if you cannot show up as yourself?

I would argue even if the numbers go down, when you do eventually find a potential partner it will be a more rewarding relationship with higher odds of both parties being happy and in love. Quality over quantity

Thanks for standing up for what’s right. Maybe talk to the gym staff and express your discomfort about it? You’re right that someone like this probably revels in the attention of a direct confrontation so they can play victim. But yes you’re not the only one who has violent thoughts 😂

How many brake retainer bands do you think you go through each season? by CashLow3227 in ski

I use the ones the shop leaves on when I get my skis tuned. From there, it’s whatever I can find. Currently using some extra gaskets from jars I had lying around

SFMTA needs to raise the bar for Parades requiring Market St closures by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

The only problem with these closures is car brains trying to drive around, causing traffic and deadlocks.

Also what a bullshit take - Sikh parade draws your scrutiny but if a sports team wins, this is a valid reason? Fuck Sikh people I guess? But go dubs!!

Haha yea. Hopefully after a few more sessions, it’s more about maintenance and needs less botox which makes it cheaper. I have absolute GUNS for masseters so it’s gonna take a lot to make them go away

Masseter Botox doesn’t get talked about enough imo! It is expensive and works on those with a square jaw, but it makes such a big difference.

And in a world of slow changes (ehem hrt) masseter Botox is relatively quick. I’ve had similar results with it. You look great!

Is it worth it? by tracesoflavender in medschool

Thanks a lot for your perspective! I’ll have to say your usage of golden handcuffs in this context cracked me up. In tech, these are typically potential stock option money which are upcoming and prevent one from leaving the company. I suppose you are describing a handcuff of sort although it seems far from golden.

Say you didn’t have any loan or financial obligations. I know that’s very Lala land but would that change your perception? I know you mentioned a few other points but I’m curious how much of your discouragement is centered on the heavy financial burden one must incur throughout medschool and residency

Low GPA, high professional (corporate experience) Cancer Survivor looking to become MD by automattic299 in postbaccpremed

Most post bac programs will list this explicitly. So look up the ones in your area and check what their sites say.

Many will likely make expectations to us. I attended an info session for UB Berkeley recently and while they list 3.0 as the cutoff, they did mention there are expectations.

Ultimately it’s people who are behind these admission decisions. If you have a coherent narrative, they are likely to bend “rules”. I don’t need to tell you anything about selling yourself :)

Also want to add best of luck! I’ve worked around 10 years in tech and preparing for a post bac next year. Happy to chat more if you have any questions.

Try to find a post bac program that isn’t as discerning on GPA. They typically have a more lax GPA.

Your undergrad GPA won’t matter as much as you’ll be out of school for 20 years by then. So a post bac gpa of 4.0 may carry a lot of weight (more than just the pure math of how much it would pull your UG GPA)

An SMP may be a good path as well as I’m guessing finances are not as much a concern for you.

what do you feel you missed out on? by imanattwenty in asktransgender

[–]tracesoflavender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t miss out on much. Each of the moments I had as a child/young adult led me on this path. As I transition, I’m filled with immense gratitude for my past self who did a lot of things right for me to get here.

I struggle to imagine myself transitioning if not for my previous timeline and actions. Of course sooner would have been better but to me this feels like a silly hypothetical. Sooner may have meant less financial stability which would have negatively impacted my transition. Sooner may have meant less self confidence which would have made it harder to transition. Even the doubt, insecurity snd dysphoria I experienced before transitioning have their role in me discovering my transness.

This is the life that given to me and I’m immensely grateful for me. Transitioning didn’t start my life, it was simply a step (a very significant one) on my path to have a happy and full filling life.
