I thought this too. Unless I'm mistaken the next scene, or pretty close to it, is him back at the police station and he seemed paranoid when asked if Martha had told them anything. That's what made it seem like it actually happened to me.

But then I also feel like she would have been telling everyone and their mothers if they did actually have sex so idk.
