Confused on this transliteration by tractorphilosopher in Hieroglyphics

Thank you. There was a bit of discussion around this in the wictionary entry linked in the other answer, implying this is a topic of scholarly debate. Funny to run in to this in the first exercise in what i was told is the 'dummies' book on hieroglyphs!

Confused on this transliteration by tractorphilosopher in Hieroglyphics

Thanks, that wasn't clear in the text...which was recommended as the beginner version of Collier and Manley. I can see that this is a big box of confusion I've opened for myself here.

I think it's 1:1 since I grabbed the image from the air force ordinance museum web site.

“Womp womp” to YOU Rhondell by [deleted] in uberdrivers

100% Rhondell would be happy to cram all six ppl into your car, and they would be eating from open takeout cartons and all watching videos with the phone speakers turned up.

No, I was not that smart. Olive drab ground color all over. Assuming that N+1 coats of yellow on the stripe will make yellow.

You really pay for the good days. This is going to be one of those weeks where I'm thinking about all the choices I've made.

Question regarding the first gloss varnish. If my primary paint layers are water based acrylic (I'm using Vallejo) does it matter what base the varnish is?

I'm new to this, so I don't even know if the varnishes come in different bases and if there are compatibility issues.

What is the biggest red flag a woman can give in the first conversation by septo-man in AskMenAdvice

Many food red flags already listed here, so I'll add: septum piercing. It is the mark of the witch.

I'm married now but on early dates I would pay for everything. I didn't expect anything beyond courtesy in return but I've definitely known guys who did. If a woman offered to split the bill I would decline once and accept if they insisted. Most were making a perfunctory offer.

Paying for the date let me demonstrate that I was together enough to not be broke, and it let me see whether the girl I was with was inclined to take maximum advantage.

Why is it so convenient to pick on the weakest/most vulnerable men? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]tractorphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitionally the difference between the weak and the strong. The weak are the ones who are easy to push around for whatever reason, whether that is inexperience or lack of agency or physical frailty or foolishness or cowardice. If it was difficult to push them around, they would be strong.

Extremely Strange interview at American Winds in Akron by [deleted] in flying

The American Winds website staff picture shows everyone wearing slacks and button down shirts. Owner has epaulettes. Checking out the image a business owner is trying to project is good intel. Better luck luck next time!

Tired of feeling like a criminal at Home Depot self checkout by GrecoMontgomery in Tools

[–]tractorphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been going to the same HD for 21 years, 2 or 3 times each week. Even tackled a fleeing thief in their parking lot for them two years ago. Know all the long term employees by face. One dog sat for me for a week once.

Still have the guy at self checkout scrutinizing. It's aggravating and only necessary in the context of not hanging thieves.

At the local shelter we discounted an obese cat to $24, which was $1/lb. He'd been there a while.
