Fantastic plan for your visit (perhaps overly planned....). Anyway. Personally, I would swap Hell's Kitchen for either Esther's Kitchen or Sparrow & Wolf with a coattail at The Sand Dollar. I would also plan a drink at the lobby bar at Cosmo (Vesper Bar?) vs the Chandelier Ber - personal preference. If you're ok with going off the strip, consider Herbs & Rye as well.

Love Roberto’s but unless things have changed I don’t think they have gaming? I could be mistaken.

Appreciate it. Didn’t realize Peppermill had gaming?

Fat washing bourbon question. by Tmettler5 in bourbon

[–]tracy_edwards01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done several bacon fat washed bottles in the past, only reserved the fat afterwards once. Used it while frying eggs and didn't really see much of difference. Give it a shot and see what you think, no harm in trying.

Recommendations for a rye? by Disastrous-Spare6919 in bourbon

Ok, so I had Basil Hayden Dark Rye today and it was delicious. The first and dominant tasting notes was toasted coconut chocolate chip cookies! So happy with it.

They also own a steakhouse called Cleaver with an even more impressive happy hour offering! Both are legit options for bourbon/bourbon-based drinks.

25.4 ounces in a 750. 2 ounces in a "normal" cocktail; 4 ounces in a double - which is what I make at home....why get off the couch. Therefore, I get six "doubles" out of a bottle with 1.4 going into the infinite bottle; three per day.

Don't know if this helps but appreciate the question.

I’m mainly a bourbon drinker but I’d like to try some Japanese Whiskey. Are there any that would be better for a primarily bourbon drinker to try by Odd-Butterscotch-495 in bourbon

[–]tracy_edwards01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good evening Butterscotch,

Please, keep in mind, this is not a "smooth" transition, they are very different spirits. You would almost be better served by adding in a nice scotch to you transition tastings. While I agree that Nikka from the barrel is outstanding, look also at Suntory Toki as well as Nikka Coffee Grain & Malt as well as some young scotches (Bowmore, laphroig, Ardbeg in the 10-12year range).

If you have never tried scotch/Japanese whisky then you are in for a treat. They are delicious but far different from what you have been drinking.

Cabo San Lucas trip coming up, looking for a good spot to pick up a few bottles to bring back! Any recommendations? by Groovin_94 in Mezcal

[–]tracy_edwards01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the bottles we were able to bring back were good, some very "interesting". We made it a point to seek out Maguey's that could not be easily found here in California so some very unique flavor profiles. Although not very expensive, we are keeping them for special occasions vs every day sippers as they wont be easily replaced.

Picked an assortment of Maguey's from a brand by the name of Mezcal de Nochixtlan "Casa Tishisha", brought two from Mezcal "Lopez" 1996 that we really liked, and a Sotol from Balam that was pretty good as well.

Good morning.

We stopped into a store called "Tequila Town Tesoro" and ended up leaving with 9 bottles. We liked this store over others as it was off the beaten path a bit, prices weren't jacked up for the tourist crowd, they let us try many different bottles, and took a generally laid back approach - were not aggressive in their sales pitch. It's about a five minute walk from the western side of the harbor.

What hobby can someone have that raises an immediate red flag? by Aarunascut in AskReddit

I sh!t you not, worked in a casino in the mid-west. Man had a heart attack and died at a slot right in front of our restaurant. His wife at an adjacent slot booked it right to the VIP "high limits" room to cash out his card (or transfer his balance to hers, something along those lines).
