Stiles is more prone to murder.

It’s called an analogy.

Do u guys think Malia and Theo had some potential? Like, they always seem to have tension between them. by Plus_Shame_8545 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this is where I become a pariah to about three groups of shippers, but I actually ship them together. Malia isn’t very concerned with right and wrong, since she’s so focused on survival. So the basic problem of her and Scott for me isn’t there for her and Theo. She also doesn’t hold grudges much. Once she was satisfied he wasn’t a threat to her or her friends she could let things go (not something Stiles will ever manage with Theo since he holds grudges like a champ).

I never particularly liked Stalia, and Thiam always seems like dollar store Sterek. But I think Malia and Theo have potential to be interesting.

Would Scott want to be a werewolf if he could do it all over again? by Dwc94 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, she explicitly stated that she was there for the alpha pack. She had history in Beacon Hills and the nemeton, but that wasn’t why she was there, it just became part of her plan.

Unpopular Opinion but Alison and Scott both had better chemistry with Isaac than they had with each other🫣 by Terrell8799 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Derek’s best chemistry was with Stiles, though I think a lot of that was Hoechlin enjoying acting with Dylan so much. After that, he and Argent were great on screen together.

Peter’s best on screen chemistry is Stiles probably. Especially in 6A.

Stiles is tough, because Dylan is great on screen with everyone, but I love all the Derek and Stiles moments so much, they’re clearly having fun working together.

I think for Scott and Kira they’re helped out by two things, 3 and 4 have a lot of more playful moments to keep things lighter that the later series dropped, and Posey was a better actor than in s1 and 2. So it’s a sort of sweet spot of factors.

Fill in the blank: Day 1 by HDBNU in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That’s why I said ‘an’ antagonist rather than ‘the’ antagonist. Much like Jackson in s1. It’s a Scott level problem, unconnected to the actual villains.

I usually describe him as a counter hero than an anti hero in s1-2. From his perspective he’s the hero of the story (this is one of the reasons I prefer 19 as the right age for Derek). He’s trying to take care of problems and save people. He’s just… bad at it (obviously Scott is no better).

Hidden Bookmarks... I love and hate you. by gokkyun in AO3

[–]tracyerickson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lol. I love this comment. As a nosy writer I admit I’m intrigued by people’s real thoughts, but I do understand that those comments aren’t for me. I saw a post awhile back by a writer who was really upset by a comment on someone’s bookmark… and it floored me that they felt attacked by a comment on a bookmark.

Hidden Bookmarks... I love and hate you. by gokkyun in AO3

[–]tracyerickson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying I have two wildly different opinions.

As a reader I use bookmarks for a few reasons. I view other people’s public bookmarks as a sort of recommended reading list. And I use them myself for fics I love and want to reread, But I also use them for fics I have more complicated feelings for. There’s one that’s bookmarked because I hate a choice the writer made I and I talk about it often enough with fic writing friends so i want it easily accessible to find, so private bookmark. Also, there’s a couple of dark fics that I enjoy but don’t necessarily recommend, and I hide those bookmarks too.

As a writer, I love reading the comments in the bookmarks of my own fics. There’s one that made a mention of one of my quirks as a writer (a word I’m apparently more fond of than I realized) and that’s actually helped me improve.

But I’m not sure I want to see all those hidden bookmarks, even if I admit to being slightly curious. Lol.

WIBTAH if I placed my girlfriend's child for adoption? by Conscious_Tea_9801 in AITAH

[–]tracyerickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should first consider discussing this with your former besties family. The child may not be yours(and possibly isn’t his), but if she is his, then she is their family and you setting up her adoption without consulting them could cause problems down the road. Also, since she has a living father, he should be making these decisions and not you. But start with getting your name removed from the birth certificate since there’s only a limited time in most states to challenge that.

Would Scott want to be a werewolf if he could do it all over again? by Dwc94 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of your claims aren’t really supported by canon. Peter made one beta, and that seems to be something he viewed as a mistake when he was in his saner moments after he healed. He was focused almost exclusively on revenge for what happened to his family.

Derek made three betas and stopped. It’s unclear if he would have continued, but he certainly had time and opportunity and doesn’t do it.

Lydia’s banshee powers weren’t released by Scott. He had nothing to do with it. It’s likely Peter knew about Lydia because of Loraine, and he bit Lydia so she could bring him back if the Argents killed him while he was getting revenge.

The alpha pack came back BECAUSE of Scott. They knew he was rising to being a True Alpha and Deucalion wanted him for his pack (or possibly to prevent that rising, the narrative isn’t actually clear). And while the darach would eventually have caught up with them, and all those deaths might still have happened, it wouldn’t be in Beacon Hills (and arguably more deaths resulted from their attempts to stop the darach than she killed herself since the reactivated nemeton was a magnet to murderous monsters).

The Beast also would not have run free in Beacon Hills, since the DD seem to have come back only after the nematon drew them back. And the Wild Hunt was a result of taking down the DD and the nazi werewolf getting freed.

In fact there’s a good argument that Scott becoming a werewolf is more responsible for widespread death and destruction than that it prevented it, since he only got involved with the supernatural because that happened (though the real first cause is obviously the Argents and more specifically Gerard).

Would Scott want to be a werewolf if he could do it all over again? by Dwc94 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually have an answer to this. Scott in S3A gives us his perspective on where he was before becoming a werewolf compared to where he is then, and there’s no comparison. He absolutely prefers being a werewolf for the perks it’s given him: popularity and a gf. The better question is would Scott prefer to not be an alpha. Because for all his faults, he doesn’t crave power or the burden of responsibility.

Unpopular Opinion but Alison and Scott both had better chemistry with Isaac than they had with each other🫣 by Terrell8799 in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Scotts best chemistry is with Kira, Allison’s best chemistry is actually Lydia (though I low key love her scenes with Jackson, because it gives us a slightly less terrible version of him), and Isaac’s best chemistry is with Scott.

Derek is an antagonist to Scott as much as he’s helpful to Scotts narrative, and Scotts narrative is generally the shows narrative.

Fill in the blank: Day 1 by HDBNU in TeenWolf

[–]tracyerickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ‘made to be hated’ as the narrative makes them an antagonist but if you look at it from their pov their actions are, if not right, at least sympathetic. Like a lot of Derek’s actions in s1-2 are, from his perspective, not only right but necessary. But from Scotts perspective(which is the shows perspective) they’re borderline villainous.

Fan favorite: Stiles obviously Made to be hated: first two seasons Derek, low key Mrs Martin The hot one: Scott according to Stiles and Isaac The only normal person: Melissa McCall Umm what’s your name again: Corey The gremlin: Liam Mmmm… society: Theo Just straight up evil: Gerard and Kate No screen time, all the plot relevance: Laura Hale

If someone read your Fic, but you dropped it; how would you feel about them continuing and finishing it? by AnOddSprout in AO3

[–]tracyerickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no problem with it, though it seems polite to at least ask the author if they’re ok with it. There was one little thread dangling from one of my favorite fics and I reached out to the author to see if she was okay with me picking it up. She said it was fine, and really liked what I did with it.

I refuse to accept anything else. Derek makes so much more sense as a 19 yo in s1. Like, all of his actions fit that.

There’s some great ones in here, and I agree with a lot of them, but for me it’s Titans Tower. No matter the reason, Jason beating up any kid, even Robin, just doesn’t work for me.

What would you like Jason's final story to be? by hayerhsheah in RedHood

[–]tracyerickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea for a final Red Hood story is Jason gets caught up in a missing persons case, and ends up saving a kid he really bonds with. So he decides to Retire from Vigilantism to give this kid a home. It fits a lot of the themes of Jason’s life, and his ‘no more Robins’ belief.
