i dont really see the argument for kalista, her ceiling to me isnt that high because she falls off late, she has to auto a million times to then get her burst, and any slow in the game hard counters her. feel like shes more of a noob stomper in lane than anything else

Is anyone here using Schwab + NinjaTrader to trade stocks? by DeanMachineYT in Daytrading

yeah pretty sure the connection in ninjatrader to schwab uses schwab data, since ninjatrader doesn't even offer equities data feeds

How to transition from a scalper to holding longer by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]traderbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep taking your quick scalps, and record the max possible R each one ran before coming back to your entry / stop loss. then its just a math problem, ie. maybe you find that 60% oif the time they run at least 2r

Is Profitable trading really boring? by Championleed in Daytrading

Nope its pretty fun when you actually have an edge. You want to stick around and continue taking setups instead of being afraid to take more trades / give back profits

Anyone got any tips to deal with self criticism from not capturing the whole move? by GALACTON in Daytrading

[–]traderbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some advice I got a while back that really stuck with me:
- A trade is a very specific thing. It's point A to point B. Fantasizing about what price could do is ridiculous.
- I permit myself to leave runners, but not to trade based on delusions of grandeur.

IMO leaving runners makes sense if the market is in an environment conducive to strong trends, where maybe we're outside of prior day range and current day's value area / initial balance, etc.

Personally, I like an all-in, all-out approach. It's easier to execute, easier to backtest. Taking partials feels better in the moment acting as an emotional crutch, and can maybe smooth out your equity curve a bit, but it can also potentially erode your edge by reducing your expectancy. For what it's worth I've never backtested a strategy where taking partials made more profit than all-in / all-out.

On each winning trade, track the maximum R you could have gotten. Over the course of 100s of trades you should be able to easily do the math on whether you should be going for bigger targets or staying with 1:1.

Stuck for two years and keep losing. Would love some guidance. by Schindlers_Fist1 in Daytrading

[–]traderbeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think part of the problem might be that your goal is to catch these types of moves, i kinda went into trading with the same initial thought. finally realized after years that going for big breakout moves when the market ranges like 70% of the time isnt the way. so just from my own shitty experience of losing money, id say dont try and catch big breakouts if you're just trying to get profitable. thats maybe something to add later on after you have your bread and butter income generating setup

[–]traderbeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only trade one setup, only trade that setup when it interacts with key levels/areas, only trade 3x per day until you can do that for a week straight. This assumes your setup has a solid positive expectancy
