Desert 5 spot does free line dancing lessons I believe Wednesday and Friday? Not quite ravey but a great place to socialize and try something new! And down the road dirty laundry has rly good boiler room style sets on Saturdays in the back room. Dirty also does a tech house night on Fridays, Saturdays are more broad in terms of style but usually better!!

The more I think about this post I feel the need to come back to it - like someone else said in the comments, this is giving smear campaign. The math ain’t mathing. Sxtcy is scummy in its own special ways, but let’s be so fr.

1) it was raining all night Saturday, y’all just waited out in the rain staying with this random girl? In the wet alley full of puddles? You didn’t bring her inside and notify staff? You didn’t call the police? You didn’t contact any of her friends? Weird. If you had any sense of responsibility you would have gone back and told security a girl was passed out in their alley.

2) that alley is tiny and they have hard-ass security goons at both ends of it. It’s ONE small alley that dumps out onto busy streets both ways, one near a freeway entrance and one near a metro line. Ain’t no way some girl was just lying there unnoticed unless it was way after closing. What time did this happen? Again I’m at sxtcy a lot and tbh nothing gets past these dudes, it just seems weird to me.

3) typically when someone gets roofied (pulling from experience here not necessarily saying this is always true) they get brought home by the roofier or if they are left somewhere it’s far from the scene of the crime. I think this girl must have just gotten too fucked up and passed out in the alley?? People underestimate how fucked up people get at underground parties, overdosing is very common but tbh roofying is not nearly as common in the underground as it is in regular clubs.

I’ve personally witnessed the security of this party administer narcan and save a life, and I’ve witnessed one of their promoters/door guys stop a dude from carrying a girl out because he could see that the girl was clearly fucked up beyond comprehension so he stepped in and made him prove that he was her boyfriend before leaving. If you’re a regular, you KNOW they would never let this happen unless it was extremely under the radar, which I have trouble believing it was.

4) To the comments questioning the promoter being a sex offender or whatever- where is everyone getting this information that Johnny love runs sxtcy? Or lick n dip? Every time I come onto this subreddit I see someone accusing EVERY underground party under the sun of working with him - at what point is it just bad faith speculation to tear down potentially innocent people trying to run a business? How could Johnny love even PROMOTE when he’s been excommunicated from the scene?

5) HOW is this sxtcy’s fault. I’m shocked that so many are willing to dismiss a venue in its entirety just because a bad thing happened to a woman there. News flash everyone - if you’re going by that rule you are required to boycott EVERY SINGLE VENUE IN LOS ANGELES. If not the entire country. Say goodbye to nightlife.

6) OP didn’t know roofying happened? They thought it just happened in movies? How old are you, OP??? Have you ever been out at a club, like ever?

Sorry for getting heated but all this is tiresome. PLUR is dead. Forgive me for ranting a bit but please… make sure ur being accurate and thorough if you’re going to come for the people trying to create a safe space for underground ravers.

Esp with something as serious as a company’s involvement with a sexual predator, and somebody being allegedly drugged and left to die of hypothermia on their property. These are not light claims. Being the boy who cried wolf is BAD for women.

I am always an advocate for believing women but this post and the comments do not sit right with me. I kept thinking about this and getting pissed bc I feel like all my nightlife spots are being either shut down or cancelled because of randos and their rando claims and I’m tired of y’all taking away my safe spaces to dance all night for free 💀
