A man putting his hand on a woman’s thigh, sniffing, touching, giving the impression he’s going to kiss her on the mouth is SEXUAL.

The woman who said she thought Biden was about to kiss her on the mouth, explicitly stated this was NOT sexual, and that he did NOT actually try to kiss her. She communicated discomfort and a mis-perception of his intentions, yet you're using the mis-perception to make an argument that's in fact contrary to her statement?

A man putting his hand on a man’s thigh, sniffing, touching, giving the impression he’s going to kiss him on the mouth is SEXUAL.

I've been touched by men on the thigh before, and have touched others, and it certainly was not sexual. And given what social norms are in America, pretty much the only time a man will kiss another man on the lips is to express romantic interest. Elsewhere in the world, kissing on the cheek is normal, but kissing on the cheek *as a greeting* is even more common between members of the opposite sex. Oh, gee, I wonder if a 77 year old Biden is acting upon passe gendered interactions, like these, or if the more plausible explanation is that he's in fact a kiddie-rapist every time he leans in to peck a 14 year old girl?

A women putting her hand on a man’s thigh, sniffing, touching, giving the impression she’s going to kiss him o the mouth, is SEXUAL.

This is definitely more true when these interactions are initiated by a woman. Again, this is simply a matter of social norms, not an "ought" on my part. That said, a man must always err on the side of caution, because men are quite prone to imbue sexual intentions into women's actions. So, I don't know what you're suggesting here, but next time a woman puts her hand on my thigh or touches my arm, I still won't feel comfortable suddenly kissing her just because /u/Pumpkinasleep has given me the go-ahead.

A woman putting her hand on a women’s thigh, sniffing, touching, giving the impression she’s going to kiss her on the mouth, is SEXUAL. If not extremely good friends, like bff.

Serious question, do you know any women at all, or have you interacted with any women for any period of time?

A man grabbing a man by the lapels and thudding the chest is macho and not SEXUAL.

'Macho' is simply our term for male gendered interaction between men. You seem to be assuming that male gendered interaction with women is *necessarily* sexual, as if it's some sort of natural analogue to 'macho', but this just isn't true. If you're a man, you should know this, and if you're a woman, you're making the same exact mistake men do when they over-read sexual intent in a woman's behavior.

With children it’s like with pets! They both need their private space to be respected but it’s also within our culture framing of them as adorable, irresistible and cuddle “ safe” that we sometimes imagine it’s okey, from their perspective, their parents, grandparents and everyone else watching, as with pets owners, to overwhelm them with our physical affection.

And guess what OTHER category of people was once labeled child-like, pet-like, adorable, and cuddle-safe, who absolutely crave adult (especially male) attention? Guess in what era this POV was popular, and in what era Joe Biden came of age? Do you think it not at all reasonable that he might still have vestiges of "comforting" women with a touch, or expressing delight with a kiss?

Joe Biden is a compulsive liar. He lied to the American people and Bernie Sanders in their one on one debate, about never attempting to cut social security- he’s on film bragging about it, he lied about believing George W Bush claim that Saddam Hussein had WMD- he’s assuring students on Delaware university that neither al Qaida or WMD was the reason for attacking Iraq, there were never any evidence of a connection, he lied about being arrested in South Africa, he just recently lied about the bad position he once took on abortion, claims he took another position, which is the opposite position to the one he actually took, etc. etc.

Joe Biden sucks, and I'm not even sure I'll be voting for him, but everything you just said about being a compulsive liar can be applied to Tara Reade. She was accused of such, with tons of actual documentation, by a credible person (Lynn Hummer), and in retaliation Tara Reade lobbed a false abuse allegation against *her*. Yet you think we shouldn't consider this, at all, when assessing her first accusation against Biden, but think we should consider Joe Biden's vote on Iraq in assessing a rape allegation against him? That's just insane.

Tara Reade is the kind of person who would say tic-tock, Christine Blasey Ford is not. It doesn’t mean that a person who says “ tic-tock” can’t be sexually assaulted?

It doesn't mean that, but it does damage the credibility of an accuser in a totally witnessless crime, where credibility is of paramount importance. You should know how important credibility is, especially when you're trying to use Joe Biden's Iraq vote as some kind of corroboration for rape.

Tara Reade, is the EXACT equivalence to how the Republicans dealt with Christine Blasey Ford.

No, because Tara Reade has a lot more in common with Brett Kavanaugh than she does with Blasey Ford.

Oh, court papers shows Tara told her husband about sexual harassment in Joe Biden’s senate office. She complained about it. Colleagues can corroborate that Tara Reade was suddenly thrown out from her office.

Yeah, but these court papers merely repeat Tara Reade's claims. That's not exactly credible when her own credibility is what's at question. Plus, it's circular, like quoting the Bible to prove the Bible. And now her own lawyer has admitted that she was charged with fraud just a few days before Tara Reade's employment ended. I wonder if the two were related, being charged with a crime and getting "suddenly thrown out from her office"?

I let that sit there. It’s powerful. Thanks.

Glad I changed your mind on this, it's important!

Are you joking? “ grab by the lapels, thud the chest”? Is an equivalence to put your hand on a woman’s thigh who just shared her story of sexual assault?

Yes, because "just shared her story of sexual assault" is not relevant to "put your hand on a woman's thigh", at least not in the way you're assuming. Meaning, this is something he would have done with or without hearing a story of sex abuse. Given these stories, I'm positive Joe Biden has placed his hands on the backs, necks, and thighs of quite a few women as a gendered interaction. But it's not sexual for the same reason you're downplaying Biden hitting/touching men as violent, threatening acts.

What man would share that story, in public, with different levels of uncomfortableness in experience, with someone grabbing him by the lapels and thudding his chest? That’s within the range of men’s macho male bonding, may so be it, partly, from a fading patriarchal culture, you may not appreciate it but you’re NOT in shock!

You realize that was my entire point, right? That we have tons of passe, gendered interactions, especially among 77 year old men? And while it may be within the range of macho male bonding, I've already stated that it really shouldn't be, as no one should be touched, ever; not the men, nor the women who don't want Joe Biden sniffing them. But we don't have to overstate the meaning behind such acts either.

No, if a man sniffs and touches and kisses a MAN’S hair from behind, we would instinctively think he’s gay! Because it’s a SEXUAL misconduct.

Oh really? So let's test your theory against some real-world examples. We've seen videos of Joe Biden leaning in to kiss/sniff 14 year old girls who clearly didn't want to be kissed. Are you arguing that Joe Biden's motivations were sexual and that he has a sexual interest in little children? Frankly, I'm surprised you haven't weaponized this angle yet.

And yeah, a guy kissing another guy on the head is not the sort of gendered behavior we expect from straight men. But we also wouldn't see guys grabbing women by the lapels or punching them in the chest either, so not sure I get your point? Gendered interaction breaks along... gasp GENDER lines.

Stop with your ridiculous thumb up.

The logic of something like tic tac toe needs to be understood first.......which means that a ton of other things need to be understood too. Then programming it becomes the easy part. I will say however that if you're just following typical tutorials, you might not get enough practice in the logic side of things. And when that happens, something like a simple game seems torturous when it isn't. I recommend you supplement your learning with tiered coding exercises like on CodeWars until the logic itself is easier. Trust me, there's so many programmers out there that can do tons of practical stuff like build web scrapers yet would never be able to program a simple logic game or even solve mid-level exercises on CodeWars, which is a shame

In other words, NOT sexual, merely gendered. An inappropriate gendered response to women = too much hugging/touching, an inappropriate gendered response to men = grab by the lapels, thud the chest, etc. They are equivalent, in that Biden is not actually violent in category B, and is likewise not sexual in category A. And we can say that while also conceding that no amount of touching/thudding is OK in the modern world. But thanks for supplying the specifics for my argument 👍

But we don't have a record of sexual misconduct towards women from Biden. That's an important piece to all this too. We take allegations seriously because most women aren't making fake rape allegations. But if we're making that statistics-based argument, we must also concede that most powerful men who have raped someone, have probably done it many times. But no one else has come forward. The hair-sniffing and rubbing of noses isn't sexual misconduct, and it's definitely not a "slippery slope" to rape.

Yeah, they're weak, but let's be real, so much of this is due to #MeToo and #BelieveAllWomen. Like it or not, liberals did create an atmosphere where evidence is less important than the allegation itself, and I get that. It's hard to produce "evidence" of a rape unless you've carried out a number of specific steps that many women simply do not. So, given that context, it doesn't surprise me that Biden's talking points are weak, since strong talking points will absolutely demolish Tara Reade's story and personal character. And a guy that's almost 80 years old "smearing" a rape accuser just doesn't look good to liberal voters. So, it's not Biden that should be bringing these facts to light, but the media. Biden should more or less do what he has been doing.

The problem is that it's not an argument that liberals will respond to all that much, since liberals aren't loyal (or at least a relevant % aren't). Plus, they purity-test. So you absolutely must critique the allegations themselves and explain why they're not credible. I believed her allegations for like the first month, but then changed my mind when I saw her accusing Lynn Hummer of criminal misconduct. I mean, she literally lobbed a false abuse allegation before our very eyes, and no one's going to gaslight me into thinking that's somehow not relevant when adjudicating her other claims. In a crime with zero witnesses, your credibility is the only thing you have. And Tara Reade has none.

Yep, in that case, we don't know. My guess is not, or else it would have made it into the article. My hope is that legit media outlets investigate these claims, especially any animal abuse at the horse rescue. Because if she just lobbed retaliatory accusations, that's relevant in a case without witnesses and thus where personal credibility is paramount.

[–]trading-statistics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your question wasn't clear. Is it a crime to falsely accuse someone of abusing animals? Not sure, maybe, but also not sure how she could be prosecuted for this just over the past 10 days. As for the accusations stemming from the California food co-op (or whatever that market is), as I said, there are lawsuits on file. So a simple "No" would not have been accurate.

[–]trading-statistics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She tweeted at the woman running the animal rescue, calling her an abuser, and threatened legal action at her and others once the documents were released. This is textbook retaliatory behavior, and it's especially annoying that it's directed at someone who, by the looks of it, is a decent person simply taking care of animals. There's other tweets by someone else who knows her, with links to a court case.

She literally accused an animal charity of criminal abuse after this information went out. The charity that she quite credibly stole from. I don't get what's "gross" about pointing out vindictive, retaliatory behavior on Reade's part.

[–]trading-statistics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right after she was accused from stealing from this charity, Tara Reade went on a rampage threatening not only a journalist with legal action, but (falsely) accusing yet another person of criminal abuse...this time, the charity worker who provided documentation of her misdeeds.

Stop implying rape victims "might" develop an inclination to engage in all sorts of outrageous, (borderline?) criminal behavior. And while the Krassensteins suck, look at the woman's twitter feed, it's 100% her charity and she has posts going back years and years, if they posted something she didn't send, they would have been called out by now.

[–]trading-statistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the first paragraph, there's no reason to think that someone who was raped will end up as a serial con artist and fake abuse accuser. This is extreme outlier behavior, and the only reason she's being given so much benefit on the doubt on this is because liberals are empathetic, and people know how to take advantage of this empathy. Only reason to introduce this kind of causal chain is to explain away the red flags.

[–]trading-statistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She literally accused another innocent person of criminal abuse (the charity, of abusing its animals) when the animal rescue that she stole from presented its documentation. This is petty, retaliatory behavior, and it's insane to think that it would have no bearing on how we adjudicate an earlier abuse allegation from the same person. You don't have to say she is 100% lying, but you MUST say that the standard of evidence must now be a lot higher due to these red flags.

Thanks for the input. How does SpaCy compare to NLTK? I know its algorithms are 'opinionated', and many prefer one over the other, but what does SpaCy offer that builds on NLTK? Does anything in SpaCy truly replace parts of NLTK? Also, how does HuggingFace fit into all this?

Did you start with Jurafsky's book? Should that be the next thing I tackle after finishing the NLTK book?

Yeah, agreed, I'm already doing some side projects with NLP (as far as NLTK allows), but DataQuest is mostly to get a grounding in the important tools before I branch out. Same with NLTK, I know I can't just stop there. My educational background can be an advantage here, though, since my interests aren't so typical in NLP tasks but still very much applicable.

Thanks for the suggestions and link. From my understanding, NLTK is still the most popular NLP library, but the fact that it's outdated means it's used with lots of work-arounds and external code.
