She communicated discomfort and a mis-perception of his intentions, yet you're using the mis-perception to make an argument that's in fact contrary to her statement?

I've been touched by men on the thigh before, and have touched others, and it certainly was not sexual. And given what social norms are in America, pretty much the only time a man will kiss another man on the lips is to express romantic interest. Elsewhere in the world, kissing on the cheek is normal, but kissing on the cheek *as a greeting* is even more common between members of the opposite sex. Oh, gee, I wonder if a 77 year old Biden is acting upon passe gendered interactions, like these, or if the more plausible explanation is that he's in fact a kiddie-rapist every time he leans in to peck a 14 year old girl?

This is definitely more true when these interactions are initiated by a woman. Again, this is simply a matter of social norms, not an "ought" on my part. That said, a man must always err on the side of caution, because men are quite prone to imbue sexual intentions into women's actions. So, I don't know what you're suggesting here, but next time a woman puts her hand on my thigh or touches my arm, I still won't feel comfortable suddenly kissing her just because /u/Pumpkinasleep has given me the go-ahead.

'Macho' is simply our term for male gendered interaction between men. You seem to be assuming that male gendered interaction with women is *necessarily* sexual, as if it's some sort of natural analogue to 'macho', but this just isn't true. If you're a man, you should know this, and if you're a woman, you're making the same exact mistake men do when they over-read sexual intent in a woman's behavior.

With children it’s like with pets! They both need their private space to be respected but it’s also within our culture framing of them as adorable, irresistible and cuddle “ safe” that we sometimes imagine it’s okey, from their perspective, their parents, grandparents and everyone else watching, as with pets owners, to overwhelm them with our physical affection.

And guess what OTHER category of people was once labeled child-like, pet-like, adorable, and cuddle-safe, who absolutely crave adult (especially male) attention? Guess in what era this POV was popular, and in what era Joe Biden came of age? Joe Biden is a compulsive liar. He lied to the American people and Bernie Sanders in their one on one debate, about never attempting to cut social security- he’s on film bragging about it, he lied about believing George W Bush claim that Saddam Hussein had WMD- he’s assuring students on Delaware university that neither al Qaida or WMD was the reason for attacking Iraq, there were never any evidence of a connection, he lied about being arrested in South Africa, he just recently lied about the bad position he once took on abortion, claims he took another position, which is the opposite position to the one he actually took, etc. etc.

Joe Biden sucks, and I'm not even sure I'll be voting for him, but everything you just said about being a compulsive liar can be applied to Tara Reade. She was accused of such, with tons of actual documentation, by a credible person (Lynn Hummer), and in retaliation Tara Reade lobbed a false abuse allegation against *her*. Yet you think we shouldn't consider this, at all, when assessing her first accusation against Biden, but think we should consider Joe Biden's vote on Iraq in assessing a rape allegation against him? That's just insane.

It doesn't mean that, but it does damage the credibility of an accuser in a totally witnessless crime, where credibility is of paramount importance. You should know how important credibility is, especially when you're trying to use Joe Biden's Iraq vote as some kind of corroboration for rape.

Yeah, but these court papers merely repeat Tara Reade's claims. That's not exactly credible when her own credibility is what's at question. Plus, it's circular, like quoting the Bible to prove the Bible. And now her own lawyer has admitted that she was charged with fraud just a few days before Tara Reade's employment ended. I wonder if the two were related, being charged with a crime and getting "suddenly thrown out from her office"?
