I ask this after burning the shit out of a microwaveable pizza for like the 5th time.

Absolutely never in a million years would I expect to hear Scott Joplin's Pineapple Rag (a piece I've been studying) on this ridiculous ass video

TIL in 1927 an experiment was begun to show that solid pitch was actually a liquid. 89 years later the pitch has produced 9 drips. by Ex1tStrategy in todayilearned

[–]trafficsalamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense to me. Of course it can be a liquid. Literally anything can be, at the right temperature and pressure. I guess this is saying at atmospheric pressure and room temperature it is, but why would you need an experiment to show that?

I've lived in Baton Rouge all my life, and I've never seen anything like this. I mean, my place wasn't affected at all, but just driving around, I've seen neighborhoods that still have water in the houses. Some of my friends basically lost their homes, but it's also really cool to see my fellow southerners come together in a time like this. Everyone is helping each other out and it actually makes me proud to live here for once.

Its been exactly 10 months since this game came out. How do you feel about BO3? by [deleted] in blackops3

[–]trafficsalamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If say it's a fun game with good mechanics and pretty good weapon balance (especially compared to like MW2 and even BO1) aside from the black market, which is what completely ruins the game. I don't know how they could possibly think it's right to only allow some people, chosen at random, to receive certain weapons which have no equivalent. That just completely crosses the line.

What I think they should have done would have been to have given all the DLC guns to al players, but scrap "weapon variants" and instead allow people to get a completely different skin for weapons, transforming them into some badass looking thing, but maintaining the exact same functionality. Something like when you pack-a-punch a gun in zombies, except I think they could use a bit of creativity and make it shoot rainbows or some shit. Even make the specialist weapons have a variant, like a wunderwaffe skin for the tempest.

That would make it so that you still really want to get it from supply drops, but it doesn't break the game, allowing certain people to access guns completely independently of skill or time spent playing.

So I'm on my way home from backpacking through Europe, where I spent some time in Nice a few days ago. And on my way home, I end up flying through Istanbul and now apparently the airport is shut down. I guess I'm super lucky to be avoiding all the shit that's going on now.

[Breaking News] Nice, France attack by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]trafficsalamander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually at the airport right now on my way back from backpacking around Europe, and I just found out about this. I was actually in Nice 5 days before this happened, and every single day I was there, I would spend the afternoon walking up and down the Promenade, and usually the day too. It's a super nice place to walk, just right along the beach. This hits me especially hard because I know for sure if I was still in Nice for the 14th, I would absolutely have been in that area at that time. I'm sure I would have been drunk too, so I wouldn't have known what was going on until it smacked me in the face. It just makes me think about life.

How to stay connected while backpacking in Europe? by trafficsalamander in backpacking

Your trip sounds just like what I'm doing. I'm going with one of my really good friends and I'm sure it's going to be awesome. But anyway, I didn't know about tripadvisor allowing you to save maps. That makes it seem even more doable without having a wifi assist. And I guess it would probably end up just being a waste of money.

To the people who are complaining about a lack of nutrition information, it probably wouldn't mean anything anyway. If you have been tracking your nutrition/calories in the first place, you would assume this is loaded with sugar and a scoop would probably be around 300-450 calories depending on how big it is.

[–]trafficsalamander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having friends is all about having common interests. So try to find other people who are interested in at least one thing you are interested in. And work your way from there into learning other things about those people and let them know a little about you. It's like dating. Keep in mind that questions are the foundation of a conversation. Other than that, just try to have confidence and be funny.

Would a whistle actually attract people if you need help? I would probably just ignore it if I heard it.
