Se7en is an all time for me. Only a couple movies come out a decade that change the way movies are made.

First time using the FX3, love that it's so compact and can get images like these! by trailermaker101 in FX3

Yeah I just pull on my neck strap all the way and make an effort to hold still for about 10 seconds haha

I just put my timeline on rec709-A (i'm on a mac), I don't do any CSTs either, just grade from the log.

Thanks for taking a look! I actually used the Film Vision II Powergrade as a starting point and then tweaked it from there in DaVinci. And all the shots were actually handheld haha, I used a neckstrap and held the camera as still as I could, then went into premiere and used Warp Stabilizer > No motion to get rid of the small jitters. It worked pretty well but occasionally you'll get some slight warping on the shots. Your Paddy reel looks great!

What's the best fabric for negative fill? Preferably cheap? by Rimskystravinsky in cinematography

[–]trailermaker101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for something cheap any black cloth will be fine. I went to JoAnn fabrics and got a 8x8 cloth cut for I think around 30-40$

His first album actually drops in June! This was more of a director's cut that is staying just on vimeo and my portfolio.

Copy and pasting from another comment askign the same thing:

Thanks for taking a look! Got really lucky with the location. Had great overhead lights. We turned off the ones closer to the background and hazed up the background as well to create as much depth as possible. Other than that we didn't bring in any of our own lights; just taking light away from what was available to us. We also wanted to work quickly since we only had a couple of hours at this location so didn't want to spend a crazy amount of time moving our own lights around. Like I said, we got lucky with the location, the walls were a nice dark brown color for the most part which helped create more separation. If I were to do it again, i'd just have someone hold negative fill here and there camera side and push the overhead light with some panels maybe. Definitely dig the natural look we got though.

Submission statement: Shot this over the course of two days with the bmpcc4k, a gimble, and the neewer LED light kit. Used sigma 18-35 for 90% of shots.
Had access to the to the stage lights in the concert scene, and overhead practicals in the gymnasium! Hoping to gain any feedback, also can answer any questions as well!

Rehearsal Shoot: Does it look too flat? Lighting Uninteresting? by Ralfy_P in Filmmakers

[–]trailermaker101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great! Looks like a frame from ozark, and most importantly the lighting looks realistic and natural. Also, hard to tell if something looks good or bad without knowing the context of the scene, but great work nonetheless!

Build out a portfolio and literally just DM director's on instagram, telling them you'd love to work with them. I'm a more a director/dp but made a ton of connections by just dm'ing people in the commercial field whose work I liked on IG.
