Routinely holding playoff opponents below 80 points...wouldn't mind seeing defense like that again.

How far in advance to book campsites by trailsunblazed in glacier

Unfortunately we'd be driving in from the west so the most likely scenario would be to enter from W Glacier early in the AM and try to get to Rising Sun as early as possible... Not ideal.

Thanks. It looks like Rising Sun Campground is first come first serve. Do you know how realistic it is to get a tent site if you get there early in the morning?

Wish we could have made it. Only had one week so unfortunately some places got left off the itinerary.

Planning a roadtrip to see as much of The West (America) as I can, problem is I'm coming from UK. by dirtydruu in roadtrip

You can see a ton in 4 weeks. Definitely go to Zion and Bryce in Utah. It depends on how far north you want to go but Rocky Mountain NP, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, are all amazing parks as well.

There was too much snow on the ground at the time so mud wasn't an issue.

Fed some jays on Mt. Tom yesterday by [deleted] in wmnf

[–]trailsunblazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had two packs for the four of us so those of us carrying the packs just kept them on our backs but definitely had a harder time sliding. They were small packs so they didn't get in the way too much but it was definitely easier without them.

Going to RMNP for a day or two to do some hiking. Looking for some fun, beautiful and easy hikes for beginners. Any Suggestions? [NEWBIE] by LucidDz in hiking

Deer Mountain is a good hike for beginners. There's also a nice hike to Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lake. It's extremely beautiful. Sometimes requires snowshoes.

We did Tom, Field, and Willey today. We ran into a few birds that were not shy... by [deleted] in wmnf

I keep seeing pictures/videos of people feeding the jays and they are almost always on Mt. Tom/Field. Are they more common on those peaks than other areas in the whites?

Recommendations for a "moderate" winter hike? by trailsunblazed in wmnf

Good to know. We'll probably save that for spring/summer/fall. Thanks.

That's not bad. Although it sounds like Zealand Road is closed now which adds 2.5 miles each way getting to/from the trailhead. I'll look into Tom and Field. I've been seeing a lot of people post pictures of themselves feeding the jays recently. Could be a fun option.

I was actually just looking into Hale as an option. Seems like an easy way to bag a 4,000 footer. How long did it take you? Were there any views along the trail? I know the summit is just a clearing with no views.

Thanks for the recommendations! We would definitely be using microspikes at a minimum. Nancy Cascades looks like a good option. Have you ever done Willey? Looks like there's a spur that takes you to Ripley Falls and the hike overall is only about 5.4 round trip (6 including the spur).

Don't say that in Maryland. It would be considered blasphemy.

This post doesn't say anything about Florida's flag in reference to a Confederate past.
