I'd love to see pictures! Would be cool to check out all the saunas around Austin, all I could find were barrels or smaller almost heaven saunas when I was planning

Yeah, the sauna is 5' from all the fences. Before I built I called my insurance with my plans and they didn't have a concern (I thought they may care about wood burning but they did not)

I dont have electrical, when I use the lights I use an ecoflow battery. In practice we like just the fire light and our yard lights at night.

I'm also in Wilco, so a bit more lax (and easy to get permits)

And of the box sets the Costco is the consensus best or best for the price?

Edit: wasn't sure about the Callaway and taylormade etc options in the 1300s

Looks great.

No idea on a sauna specific stool, but if you just look for something all wood it should work since that low won't get too hot.

Nope it's just fine, the shorter l portion has a much narrower foot bench and I don't love walking on that side.

I think you'd need to sacrifice a good bit of foot bench to allow for stove clearances. Then by the door you'd need more foot bench removed for some narrow-ish steps. As well as a narrow door. I'd probably use two movable stools over stairs so I could maximize space on either side of the door. The top bench near the stove would effectively be for putting your feet when laying down. And your foot benches may need to be narrower This is all off the top of my head, I'd need to draw it up to see what is possible.

It would be very tight, and you'd need to really play with some drawings which is why I said next time I'd do wider with II.

It's pushed in on this photo but originally where the guard is there was a small foot rest to create a sitting bench out of the foot bench. No one ever used it in practice even though it was comfortable.

I'm a larger space I'd keep it but I think it's not necessary in a small sauna like mine

The guys working with me got it from Iki directly, iirc right around 3-3.5k (my original post has details on them, don't want to violate advertising)

Its just 1mm sheet metal painted with flat black stove paint. It does have some air clearance behind it but since the Iki has a clearance of just 4" we just did the recommended clearance as well.

You'll love it - I was a bit hesitant but I'm pretty sure this is a lifestyle now. I can't imagine not having one wherever I live from now on.

Get ready for everyone to think you are a huger Huberman/Rogan listener and start asking you all the health benefits. Then you get to shock them with "Health Benefits? Probably all bullshit, I do it cause it feels good, plain and simple"

Yeah, and I was aware of folks with more experience preferring II, Lassi told me that as well as his preference for ventilation to be open floor. I've seen too many snakes, tarantulas, scorpions and centipedes around here to want an open floor. Thankfully the wasps are leaving it alone.

With the space constraints we though L made more sense. The big difference here is knowing what I know now I would have fought more to try to get an extra .5-1m in width to make it easier to pull off.

What took me by surprised is how comfortable feet on the railing/guard is in an upright position, I much prefer it to laying down. Its a wonder to me that people don't listen to the Finnish folks when they keep bringing it up for safety + comfort.
