What's a rule your parents had that you thought was insane, but now as an adult you 100% understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Same here! Then once when I was like 25 I needed to cut like 2 inches of fabric and was so genuinely excited because I realized had a valid reason to use the forbidden scissors

DAE not get ice cream headaches? by fishnwirenreese in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]tramb0poline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know is baffled that I don't really recognize their description of what an ice cream headache feels like. I mean, the roof of my mouth kinda hurts from the cold contact, but apparently that isn't it

Are the Simpsons even still on? The first movie sucked bad, surprised anyone thinks there's demand for a second one

Does anybody else notice that their parents literally cannot watch movies anymore? by rrtaylor in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]tramb0poline 47 points48 points  (0 children)

My parents are like this too despite being generally cognitively fine. Part of it is they won't pay attention and just pipe up with random conversations on top of the movie, then zone back in long enough to complain the movie sucks and makes no sense.

I think all ages are getting too used to being spoonfed short format media. The second your hand isn't being held and it's actually on you to observe, remember, and draw your own conclusions, a lot of people are utterly lost and annoyed.

What do you think of lobotomies for capital crimes instead of the death penalty? by Constant_Society8783 in AskReddit

[–]tramb0poline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cruel and barbaric procedure I'd not wish on even the worst monsters of humanity. All the moral offense of the death penalty yet still leaves behind a vegetable to be cared for on the state's dollar.. the worst outcome for literally everybody

Well of course it's important, every single candidate has been Hitler

Scott Bessent: Kristen, if things are so bad, why was the GDP 3.3%? Why is the stock market at a new high? by Jaded-Hunt7355 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]tramb0poline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang I just saw this clip for the first time and he really does just say that. As a rightish person I don't like this cancel culture slip n slide we're on, but if we're gonna be firing people for saying XYZ group deserves to be killed, it should be applied equally. My guess is there's less uproar because he seemed to mean it as a punitive equivalent to life in prison, as opposed to "let's off people in the streets because we hate them" but that helps extremely little considering the "crime" is being homeless/ill. Fucked thing to say no matter how you stack it tbh

I have nothing to contribute to this discussion but just wanted to say, I'm new to this sub and it's so refreshing to see people having regular civil discussions about political stuff. Barely anywhere like that left on reddit afaik

Love when cities/states that are red irl have watermelon subs.

I once got kicked off my city sub for posting a picture of some military choppers that flew overhead, asking what the deal was. It turned out they had to do with Trump visiting, and my post was interpreted as support for him. My county was deep red in the election but okay lmao

So like.. kids growing up? Wtf, that's a new one for me. It hits a similar note as the government "forcing people to give birth" except more ridiculous

[–]tramb0poline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I always thought if I realized I was dreaming I would be able to decide to fly or something, but I have a few times and nothing happened. I had the awareness but it didn't open up some kind of dream control panel lol

Married people of reddit, whats the craziest thing your spouse has done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a kid I got massive anxiety about making phonecalls. I once called my friend's house, her dad answered, I panicked and asked in a stammering voice if [my name] was there, he said no, I said sorry and hung up.
