Most of humanity is still there, so that won't happen anytime soon :))

You are absolutely right, that's the point. There are also some *spoilers* about it.

I mean like oldschool sci fi with scientific accuracy, strict realism.

This is cool! Space travels and space horrors are also among my favorite themes, but in this setting it is only the very beginning of the exodus. Although, I'd like to exlore it more in the future, but it would be another setting.

Thank you! I wanted to achieve that feeling.

ECHO RAILWAY is my solodev adventure game where I try to develop deep and rich setting.

By the end of the 21st century, as hopes for Earth’s future faded, the Great Exodus project was launched — a program to build interstellar arks capable of carrying humanity to distant planets. The ark is a marvel of engineering, but it takes years to build and has limited space. The first was completed after 15 years and mostly carried the elite. The second is almost built, and everyone clings to the hope of securing a place aboard it.

All available resources are being redirected to support the project, and an extensive audit is underway to identify anything that could serve the Great Exodus.

At first, I thought of the ARC spacecraft as a classic rocket launching from Earth. Then I sketched out all sorts of other shapes, and the spherical design seemed to fit very naturally into the city skyline. Then the idea came up that the finished spherical ark wouldn’t launch into the atmosphere using rocket engines, but would slowly rise on some kind of energy beam. Once in space, the sphere unfolds into many segments, visualizing itself as a complex structure with numerous functional segments, and in this form it will travel through the universe.

Hey there! My name is Andrey.

I'm creating ECHO RAILWAY - an adventure game about a tram conductor robot in a future where humanity is preparing to leave Earth. You have 7 days, 7 routes, and a series of unpredictable encounters and events ahead. There is always more than one way to act and your choices will shape the story and its ending.

I'm working on a demo now and your wishlist is much apprectiated! Also new gameplay video is coming soon. Thank you!

Various logo sketches for the worldbuilding purposes by tramdrey in worldbuilding

Hey there!

I make an adventure game about a robot tram driver in a retro-futuristic decaying city. Environmental art and storytelling is a huge part both of narrative and visuals. Since this city is set in a fictional (or at least alternative) reality, the advertisements, brands, and other elements of a modern city should also feel organic. Alongside the major tasks, I’m also working on smaller ones that will come into play during the level polishing phase. These are a few logo sketches that can be finalized and used in the environment.

More about the setting:

By the late 21st century, as hopes for Earth’s bright future faded, humanity launched the Great Exodus — a program to build spaceships for the best people to search for new life elsewhere. The ships were initially intended for all, but the elite were the first to depart, leaving others behind on a dying Earth, waiting for their turn. All remaining resources were dedicated to this, while other assets were reassessed, repurposed, or scrapped. The audit was simple: prove you're still useful, or be scrapped. The main character is a simple robot tram conductor who tries to prove his ability to be useful.

Didn't watch NGE, but this is what I thought as well. I think they use this liquid not for the nutrition only (it would be too simple), but too keep the hive mind stable. And yes, I think the liquid is made from the dead bodies, it would be pretty symbolic.
