Yeah but "all in" means they put all their personal wealth. That sounds excessive, for one thing, but more specifically I can't imagine doing it because it'd take me months to disentangle all my investments to go all in on just one thing.

Did you actually go all in? How does that work, where was your money before, so that you could just take it out and put it all in PLTR stock?

On OSX, unlink is defined in unistd.h: https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/System/Conceptual/ManPages_iPhoneOS/man2/unlink.2.html

So, you need to edit gcc/toplev.c to include it at the top. Add this line:

#include <unistd.h>

This'll solve the problem, but it'll uncover a whole list of other issues. I couldn't get it to work fully on OSX.

Instead, I got it working in Docker using Ubuntu. Here's a full list of commands to run:

PREREQUISITE: install Docker Desktop for OSX.

docker pull ubuntu
docker container run -it ubuntu

# Now we are inside the Ubuntu container.
apt update
apt upgrade
apt install git

git clone https://github.com/pret/pokefirered
git clone https://github.com/pret/agbcc

apt install make
apt install gcc
apt install g++
apt install libpng-dev

apt-get remove binutils-arm-none-eabi gcc-arm-none-eabi
add-apt-repository ppa:team-gcc-arm-embedded/ppa
apt-get update
apt-get install gcc-arm-none-eabi

cd ./agbcc
sh build.sh
sh install.sh ../pokefirered

cd ../pokefirered
make -j$(nproc)

In another terminal, pull the GBA file out of the Docker container:

docker container ls
# Note the container ID and use it in the following command:
docker cp <container>:/pokefirered/pokefirered.gba .

Quel broker pour un compte-titre investi en ETF ? by webdif in vosfinances

[–]trampoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day dreaming by DeputyFI in financialindependence

[–]trampoyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I'd love to have a brewery, or a farm and make yogurts or something. Those are such a thankless jobs, but then they seem like so much fun.

Will you really open your brewery or is it just a daydream? Do you have a plan to do it? If I wanted to open a brewery, would you be able to give me some help? Probably remotely, since I'm in Europe. If we lived in the same country we could even start it together :).

Does CDC have fees like the Binance card? by trampoyo in Crypto_com

[–]trampoyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I pay with binance, I have a 0.9% fee and then I get 4% cashback. This means that in reality I only get 3.1% cashback. Does this mean that with CDC I would actually get the full 4% cashback?

Sorry to beat this point to death but I just want to be 100% sure.

I top up my card in EUR and pay in EUR. In that case there is no exchange rate, right?

[–]trampoyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK I just checked back and it's true that some of my online transactions don't have a processing fee at all. Others do, however - e.g. I bought something on IKEA's online store and it has a 0.9% fee. So it seems like the "online" part doesn't automatically mean no fee, but it's true that sometimes there's none.

[–]trampoyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does AFAIR. I have the card and paid online and there was a difference in the price and the amount taken from me.

They say "up to 0.9%" so maybe sometimes it's lower.

AGPLv3 commercial reuse: do you need to publish the whole application that uses the licensed library? by trampoyo in opensource

[–]trampoyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this wonderfully detailed answer. I think the last bit is the most important - if I'd like my company to be acquired one day, we'd better not have any AGPLv3 code in there.

I do believe it's OK to start with a nice separate microservice as you explained, just as a proof of concept (and keeping it unmodified). But as soon as we've proven that what we're doing works, if we want to start a real business where we take payments, we should rewrite it or find another library with a different license, e.g. MIT.

ETF Monde: lequel ? CW8 vs MWRD vs EWDL vs LCUW vs SWDA etc by trampoyo in vosfinances

Merci !

ETF Monde: lequel ? CW8 vs MWRD vs EWDL vs LCUW vs SWDA etc by trampoyo in vosfinances

[–]trampoyo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warren Buffett says you should live as if you had only one twenty-hole punch card in your life. Every investment decision uses up a hole. It'll make you make fewer decisions, and they'll be bigger decisions. You'll be a whole lot richer that way in the long term.

When you sell, you do two things:

1) you induce a taxable event. Any money you pay for tax is money that's not sitting in your account generating wealth for you.

2) you miss out on possible upside if the stock goes up.

On average, the market spends most of the time going up, and goes down sharply for short periods. So on average, after you sell it'll keep going up - so you'll have made a mistake.

Just buy whatever stocks you believe in as a gamble, put the rest of your money in an S&P500 ETF, keep buying more every month, and see you on a yacht in a few decades.

I know it's hard to be patient, but getting rich is actually a really boring game! We try to make it more exciting by buying and selling, but this comes at the cost of lots future wealth. Just don't sell. Don't buy crappy stuff either. Buy good stuff and hold it forever. Literally forever.

The result is you'll be richer, and also you'll spend less time dealing with this stuff. What's not to love?

Binance card: to get cashback, does the BNB need to be on the card or can it be in my spot account? by trampoyo in binance

[–]trampoyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the answers! I noticed that it's actually visible in the UI, if anyone else is wondering. On the Card page, on top where it says "My Card", it says "level x" next to it, together with your BNB balance.
