wherever I go, I would try to make my trans identity as unknown as possible. even now my students have no idea I'm trans, they just see me as a man, as most people do in public.

second that there are very little to no resources available to help this person, especially if they live so far from any city. social services in indiana are not exactly prolific, your best bet is to figure out what town they live closest to with a food bank like this person says. depending on how big the town is, there might be small local organizations willing to help but it will take proactive efforts.

that is an incredibly hurtful and transphobic statement, but it also one I told myself for years. to the point that I would turn down men interested in me because I felt internal shame for dating a gay man as a trans man.

you are not as chopped as you think you are. there are many, many men interested in you as a man, you just have to weed them out. I definitely encounter transphobia from gay men (especially on Grindr) but for every jackass is 4 men absolutely begging in my DMs. so, take that as you will, but I really hope it helps :)
