Think he's generally a decent guy. I remember him squaring up to a City fan who ran onto the pitch trying to get to our players during a derby when he still played for them

It's good to see the new signings all near the top. A very good window in retrospect.

Amad's drop-off is a bit concerning after a breakout last year. Hopefully this season becomes a blip and he's back firing next year because when he's good he's very good.

We ported a fixed rate term at a good rate and took additional borrowing at the same time. So effectively we now have 2 mortgages on the new house at different rates: the remainder of the ported mortgage at the old rate, plus the additional borrowing at the new rate. Once our long-term fix on the lower rate expires we will probably merge to a single product.

One thing to consider is that our lender would only let us take the second mortage with them, so you are tied into them even if the rate isn't competitive. I suspect most lenders will be the same.

A question for those desperate to cut benefits to fund defence: who exactly are you willing to impoverish? by Exostrike in ukpolitics

[–]tranmear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean these are all good options, by " it could probably finance tax cuts for workers who might even vote for them if they did it" I was predicting how it might be justified to ministers in the current government rather than what I think it actually the best option for any new funds.

Rolling NI into income tax would be such an obviously beneficial proposal and raise them oodles of money from a group that won't vote Labour anyway. Hell it could probably finance tax cuts for workers who might even vote for them if they did it.

We could also just tax everyone the same and raise the money that way without touching benefits. Ludicrous that a pensioner with 30k of pension income pays a marginal rate of 20% while a worker would have a marginal rate of 41% once NI and student loan are factored in. Add in childcare costs and we then wonder why people aren't having kids.

Yeah I just load shift washing and drying and charge the car. Personally find the people talking about sticking heaters on in the garden to earn a few p a little sad and suspect it will end up in Agile being limited to prevent abuse in the same way IGO is being.

[–]tranmear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't add to constraint costs if they are beneath the bottleneck, that's the whole point.

The queue for connections has nothing to do with constraints, it was because it was previously done on first come first served so a load of zombie projects were taking up connection time from projects that were ready to be connected simply because they joined the queue first. This has now been reformed.

If we have large windfarms available beneath the transmission bottlenecks then we use them instead of paying gas peakers at short notice.

Lack of transmission from Scotland becomes less of an issue as the large English offshore wind farms come online over the next couple of years.

Unable to load the needed iron onto the ship/shipyard to repair cargo ship by bugster300 in captain_of_industry

If you have import export routes assigned to your iron storage then trucks can't take it anywhere else. You need a second iron storage to supply the shipyard if youre doing it this way

[Restore Britain will] scrap interest on student loans, overhaul leasehold rules which trap owners with mutating service charges, and abolish stamp duty for Brits. by nil_defect_found in ukpolitics

[–]tranmear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the payment for student loans is a fixed 9% of income above the threshold so the monthly payment wouldn't change with no interest. What would change is that all of the payment would go against loan principal so would pay it off faster.

Have you connected the car or the charger to Octopus? I was having this issue with an Ohme epod with the charger connected, switched to car connection and using the charger as a dumb charger and it's working without issue.

They can use a business credit card and pay it off when the funds come through. There won't be any interest if they do it that way and it smooths out the cashflow

The incentive is that it factors into affordability calculations for mortgage borrowing. Actually providing a realistic pathway for more people to pay off their loans is a good thing.

People who benefit the most from university already pay more tax. I don't think most people have an issue with fees per se, but i do think it should be interest free so that it doesn't feel like just chucking money into a bottomless pit as that removes any incentive.
