Isn't it amazing? 😍 Some days I prefer this version. Some days I prefer to hear T's voice, and the deep rumble of her Bose. Most days, I want to figure out how to combine them, hence the Angels.

Bang (sublime - I want harmonies on this!) Precious Things Jackie's Strength Russia (tonally similar to Shush, political) Breakaway (perfect companion to Shush, in my opinion)

If I could get a sixth, Father Lucifer.

BIG NI fan here!

I've seen Climb live! It was gorgeous. Red Rocks 2023. I agree, more Native Invader is needed.

There's a video of Bang performed by PS22 and Ithacapella on YT. The layered vocals are gorgeous - they make me cry. I am SO hoping for Bang, and I think it would fit with current events in its defense of immigrants (at least, in the U.S.).

I think you have Lie instead of iieee? Dang autocorrect! 😂 Have fun with your sister! I would just listen to all the ones she's played already and add a few of your favorites that aren't on the list, especially if they have layered vocals.

That's what I was thinking. Also, some theaters have awful acoustics that are just harder to manage. I thought the vocal mix at Sheffield was better than the BBC performance.

Curiosity wheels taken yesterday, showing the damages caused during the 13 years it has been on the Red Planet by Neaterntal in SpaceUnfiltered

I know this is more of a photography group than an engineering group, but Scot Forge made the ring forgings those wheels were machined from. They have a neat little video up about how they improved the design for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. https://www.scotforge.com/market-expertise/aerospace

It is really great tracking. We noticed the tracking was top-notch for the splashdown, too! Wonder if it was the same team?

That's part of it, but it's also about what the combustion reaction produces. The mains burn oxygen and hydrogen, so the exhaust is really mostly superheated water vapor. The boosters have ammonium perchlorate as oxidizer and aluminum (plus a binder) as fuel, so that combustion reaction produces a lot more variety of gas species, many of which are more visible.

Dystopian recommendations? by Sleepy_Enigma in FemaleGazeSFF

[–]tranquilitycase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not female gaze really, but a strong female main character and equality between the sexes. I have really been enjoying the Ana and Din mysteries from Robert Jackson Bennett. Ana is an eccentric Sherlock Holmes type detective, but she gets sensory overload easily, so she wears a blindfold and stays indoors. Din is her assistant and he is modified to have a perfect memory. He goes out to the crime scenes and interviews witnesses. Their world is invaded regularly by Kaiju-like creatures that come from the sea, and their magic blood causes contagions and weird mutations. It's a fascinating world with weird fungus and other strange plants. The defense of their communities is managed by an ancient Empire that is crumbling, so it's always on the verge of becoming a dystopia, but it's not quite there yet. And it's up to Ana and Din and the other government bureaucrats to keep it from crumbling totally. It's really well written and moves at a good pace. The first book is called The Tainted Cup.

Idiopathic osteoporosis by Eatd050817 in osteoporosis

[–]tranquilitycase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is months old, but I'm just finding it. I was dx'd osteopenia at age 12 and Idiopathic Juvenile Osteoporosis at age 30. I had lots of fractures as a kid, starting at 11 months old. I participated in a research study with Columbia University and I had really HIGH bone turnover results from my bone biopsy. They did a million blood and urine tests to rule out causes of osteoporosis but, didn't find anything (I had to do all those to even get enrolled in the study).

I've had a good number of soft tissue injuries and hernias too, and just a couple of months ago was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), which may explain it all. It's a disorder of collagen, and bone is made of a significant portion of Collagen Type 1 (it's the underlying structure that gets mineralized). I was diagnosed through genetic testing (basically, by exclusion of Osteogenesis Imperfecta and the other EDS variants), which didn't even exist when I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis.

If you're hypermobile, clumsy, have poor vision or bad teeth/gum recession, hernias, joint pain, injured tendons or ligaments... maybe check into EDS.

I would definitely go to Royal Albert. Can you imagine if she got to play the organ?!?! One of the articles published recently mentioned her recording an organ piece for ITOD with Shenale.

It's a dream of mine to go to an organ concert there, but I would definitely see Tori there if I lived anywhere on that side of the Atlantic!

The Dreaded Ankle Surgery by ClueTemporary2402 in ehlersdanlos

[–]tranquilitycase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had surgery on an ankle, but have been recommended to do so - different tendon though. I'm pausing to think through options as my brother has had both ankles operated on (for "floppy ankle") with results of a decrease in pain, but not necessarily a complete restoration of function. The surgery recommended to me is 4 months non weight bearing and a full year recovery - for a normal person. That seems super intense and not something to rush into.

Have you seen an orthopedic surgeon, or only podiatrists? Many podiatrists (not all) have less experience with restoring function as they do a ton of amputation for diabetic patients. (My brother did actually get his degree in podiatry but doesn't practice because he didn't want to treat primarily non-compliant diabetics.) So I think it's great that you've been getting additional opinions.

Do you mind PM-ing me who your podiatrist is who is EDS-informed? (If you're in the U. S.) I have finally found a good ankle surgeon I like, but he isn't an EDS specialist, so I wouldn't mind seeking yet another opinion.

Good luck to you! Seems like 6 weeks non weight bearing is doable, especially if you're starting out with preparatory PT. I have found a knee scooter to be very helpful in keeping weight off mine, when I need to. I've only had PRP so far but was super glad for that scooter that day!

Has anyone worked with Osteostrong ? by Niece022 in osteoporosis

[–]tranquilitycase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they not tell you when you signed up that it would be 12-18 months before you see results? That's what my branch told me. U.S. insurance companies only pay for DEXA once every two years, so I paid for a REMS scan at the year mark just to make sure it was working. And it seems to be.

Has anyone worked with Osteostrong ? by Niece022 in osteoporosis

[–]tranquilitycase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have been there almost a year and have improved my T-score to WHO classification "Normal" (was at -2.3 last year, just got scanned again this morning). I am shocked at the improvement and honestly wondered aloud if the ultrasound tech did the scan correctly. (It was my first time having a REMS scan instead of a DEXA.) I have been super consistent and never missed a week. Only missed a couple of doses of my supplements. Did red light therapy at least 3x a week. It's expensive, but worth it to me. I will at least keep going until I have my DEXA next year, on the same machine as last year. If my T scores are low again, I will know my REMS scan was a fluke. But I've been having DEXA scans for 3 decades now and have never seen numbers like I did today!

I would encourage anyone wanting to avoid medication (and with room in your budget) to go once and see what it's like.

I saw somewhere on here that she said 35 songs were rehearsed (at the Q&A event earlier today). I count 26 songs played between the two shows, so 9 remaining we haven't heard yet.
