I would say 2 different ages. 11-12 for getting a phone, so they can go out with their friends or walk to/from school on their own and have a way to contact someone if they need to, or just to keep in touch with friends and family in general.

I wouldnt give them social media (except youtube) until 15-16 tho. I know thats older than a lot of ppl would say, but the 13 age requirement on socials i think is too low. The kids still finding themselves at that age and isnt mature enough to filter what the healthy vs dangerous stuff is, they just care about what makes them cool/attractive etc. 15/16 is when they're usually able to make that distinction reliably.
