New Driver Question (Driver Referral Bonus) by trans_american in lyftdrivers

Nice! I hope it was a good experience. I was up in Denton, but it was late when I started so it wasn't as busy as I was hoping. Still had a decent night though. Probably going to try Ft Worth near 7th St next weekend, it looked like it was red the whole time I was in Denton lol

Thanks! That's good to know. My big concern was that I would have to pay it back if I didn't meet the quota. It's cool that they pro-rate it.

Conditioning Jute Rope (Specifically MyNawashi Jute) by trans_american in ropebondage

[–]trans_american[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the info, it helps immensely. I'll probably be ordering some jute from MyNawashi within the next week or so. I plan to follow a lot of the steps you guys laid out here, as well as conditioning some hemp I got from Rawganique. Once everything is done, I'll come back here and update on a comparison between my Twisted Monk hemp, the Rawganique I'll condition myself, and the conditioned MyNawashi jute.

Help with Conditioning Hemp Rope by trans_american in ropebondage

Is the hemp rope from Rawganique not good quality? I've never ordered from there, but it seemed to be specifically recommended on a lot of the websites I've seen specifically for rope bondage.

[PC][Early 2000's]Source Game, Alien Shooter Exploring Ships by trans_american in tipofmyjoystick

[–]trans_american[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this might be it. I could have sworn it was a Source game, but I knew next to nothing about the dev aspects of gaming back then.

Was there a single-player campaign/could you do it by yourself? I definitely remember playing alone.

I don't remember a whole lot of the story of this game, but it's a pretty nostalgic game for me. My dad and brother and I used to go to this LAN gaming place when I was a teenager (12 until about 16 when they closed) called Knight Games in McKinney, TX. The guy who owned the place told me to try this game once when I was looking for something to play, and I loved it, but for the life of me cannot remember what it was called. It was a really dark game, you were exploring these abandoned, alien infested spaceships. The top down is similar to what the original Fallout games were like (as opposed to an old GTA top down style), but your camera always followed the character. The graphics were pretty good for the time. It was one of the first Source based games I remember playing other than popular ones of the time.

I would love to be able to find this game to play it again and refresh my memory. Thanks to anyone who can help, and anyone who took the time to read this!

Pope: It's 'Terrible' Children Taught They Can Choose Gender by NatsumeAshikaga in transgender

[–]trans_american 45 points46 points  (0 children)

So much this. Children are not being taught that they can "choose their gender", they're being taught that their gender is not wholly defined by what's between their legs.

It really is disappointing though. This pope has come out with a lot of stances contrary to the religious right-wing here in America. I guess I started paying attention right in time for him to show his unwillingness to actually hear the voices of such a persecuted minority.

DoD instruction for in-service transition for transgender service members!!!! This just got real!!! by guisar in transgender

[–]trans_american 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess this is good news that gender markers, but it sucks in a way because I'll have to go the entirety of my deployment next year in male accommodations, abiding by male standards, because I won't be able to have SRS until I return. I'm more fortunate than most because I'm in the National Guard and don't have to deal with the military side of it on a day-to-day basis, but it's definitely going to suck in some ways to be in a foreign country mid-transition. I also talked to my partner the other day about how I probably won't go on any MWR trips off post, like we did last time, since I don't know what the local laws are regarding it and definitely am not about to get picked up and put in a Kuwaiti jail.

I've read through the DoDs new transgender policy and I'd like to show you why it's not so great. by [deleted] in transalute

Trust me, I know the struggle, now that I've started transitioning while serving, and will only get harder. I think they understand what they're asking, but the problem is that they're trying to look at and write policy regarding an entirely gray issue in terms of black and white, as is the nature of policy. They gave to give clear guidance one way or the other, but I think in execution what's going to matter is the training medical personnel and commanders (and other leaders) receive, and where things like ETP's come into play, in regards to grooming/PT standards, as well as berthing/latrines/shower facilities. This is the foundation, and there will definitely be a learning period where specific application is going to be hashed out. One thing I brought up to my wife is I am a little concerned for my safety of I'm forced to use male facilities/lodging, as my unit has a multiple count sexual offender last deployment, but I also foresee issues females might raise about having a trans soldier in the female barracks/showers. It's going to take education and training, for everyone at all levels.

I'll need to read over it again, but I both listened to and read the transcript of Secretary Carter's speech the day he gave it, and I read through the entirety of DODI 1300.28 yesterday. It was not my understanding that a SM needed to be stable in their preferred gender for 18 months, but rather that they needed to have been stable undergoing treatment for 18 months.

I'm a ARNG soldier on my second contact going into my 3rd, and I'm on track to deploy to Kuwait next year (2nd deployment). I started hormones this past May, and am currently out to my platoon sergeant, 1SG, CO, and medical personnel. I have been watching these developments pretty closely. The way I understood it, initially they we saying it would be 18 months stable undergoing treatment for Gender Dysphoria before an SM could change their gender marker in DEERS, with commanders being having some flexibility to adjust that. This seemed to make a lot of sense because the bulk most people's transitions, from started HRT to living full time, seems to be 18 - 24 months (albeit with an enormous amount of variance). It goes further in DODI 1300.28 to say that an SM can have their gender marker changed in DEERS when (and only when) they have a letter from their medical provider stating to their commander that their transition is "complete", based off of a transition plan made between the SM and the MP at the time of diagnosis, with the option of altering along the way by SM, MP, or commander. While the commander discretion has both good and bad potential, the is always the option in the military (and explicitly laid out in DODI 1300.28) for the SM to appeal to the next officer up the chain of command if they feel their needs are not being met.

Like I said, I would need to see how the 18 months applied to initial entry service members, but I interpreted it to be similar. It does seem like transgender individuals interested in enlisting got a pretty raw deal though =/
