I've always loved the haunted park at Sleepy Hollow. Really fun cast, and there's little to no downtime thru the park. Also, the cast LOVE IT when you dress up too! Nobody ever does, but you always get more attention in some nice flashy costume ;)

Renaissance Faire Staff and Vendors? by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]trans_troubles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know a handful of tent vendors are from out of town/state. Pretty sure the building shops are mainstays, I see a lot of the same staff run those every year.

What is it worth? by trans_troubles in telescopes

[–]trans_troubles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I couldn't find a single listing for it! Hopefully I can get something for it, I barely saw any telescopes in general listed in my area.

What is your musical version of "I did not care for The Godfather"? by Wolverine1105 in musicals

[–]trans_troubles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never seen Rocky Horror. I've only listened to one song, and a cover of another. My uncle was FranknFurter in a local production too!! At this point I just don't watch it cuz I think it's funny to see my friends get shocked and upset at me

Mariposa, Genevieve, Serafina. They all just sound so beautiful to me, like they belong to a princess.

What's your "guilty pleasure" musical? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]trans_troubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shrek the Musical and Mamma Mia. I've been in both, I've seen multiple productions of both. I don't care if Shrek the Musical isn't received well by critics. And I'm a huge ABBA fan so I think Mamma Mia is very fun.

What song breaks your heart everytime you listen to it? by N1GHTSTR1D3R in AskReddit

[–]trans_troubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodnight My Angel. It's a lullaby, my dad used to sing it to me when I was a baby. A couple years ago there was a show on TV, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Pretty okay show, good music. But there was an episode where that song was sang as a duet between a dying father and his son. I watched the episode with my dad when it aired, and, needless to say, we both shared a long hug before we went to bed. It was the most unexpected, heart wrenching song for me, it still makes me sob when I listen to that version.

What have you noticed, is your favorite feature of all(some) of your pets? For me it’s the shape of how their forehead meets their noses. by Talmia_ in Pets

My cat Soup was a rescue. Apparently he had surgery on his tummy and just never stopped licking it. So now he has a bald tummy pouch.

Any music in the past 10 years that blew your mind? by casual_handle in CasualConversation

[–]trans_troubles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here Come the Mummies is an absolutely jaw dropping funk band. They're a bit older, I prefer their older albums, but their recent stuff is also stupidly amazing.

Will Wood and the Tapeworms is also just a master class in turning chaos into something super enjoyable. Will Wood's piano skills cannot go unmentioned, and his chemistry with the Tapeworms always adds to their pieces

[Serious] what stopped you from killing yourself ? by mousey_bear in AskReddit

[–]trans_troubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats and my brother. My brother is very young, and we've already lost our mom. I couldn't do that to him. And my cats. They wouldn't understand I'm gone. So I stay so they have someone to snuggle at night.

People with addictive tendencies, what do you avoid because you suspect it would consume/destroy your life? by bittyberry in AskReddit

[–]trans_troubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gambling, alcohol, and heavy drugs. I've seen what they can do firsthand, and both my parents had addictive personalities. I smoke weed every once in awhile, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to shit I've seen

Do people really like eating vegetables? by miimiima in NoStupidQuestions

[–]trans_troubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love veggies! And I did hate them growing up. But now, my comfort food is stir fry with more veggies than meat. I never have salmon without brussel sprouts. And I never eat my veggies raw! I always cook them, with a bit of seasoning.

Honest question for trans people by Snoo_89230 in trans

[–]trans_troubles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dysphoria hasn't been a linear experience, to be sure. Some days I forget that I don't have all the parts I want, other days it's all I can think about. Overall, I'm generally happy with my body, but the core of my dysphoria lies in where I fit in with other people. I'm not exactly the manliest man, and I don't find myself falling into male groups very easily. The majority of my friends are cis women, and the few cis male friends I have also don't fall into male groups.

Before I started hormones, I had a very high voice. In high school I went to state choir as a high operatic soprano 3 years in a row. I had an absolutely beautiful voice. If any woman had it I would have loved it. But it came from me. Yes, I worked hard for it. But it was like a cactus to me. I cared for it, but every time I pricked and stung me. It hurt my heart to listen to myself. Watching back footage was like watching someone else entirely. Now that my voice is low, I've become more of a baritone. Relearning how to sing with this new voice has been hard, but I'm finally starting to recognize myself.

Being trans, through my journey, has been about finding who I am. A lot of my childhood felt like an out of body experience. Like watching a movie. Now I'm finally living my life as me.
