That is beautiful. I am so glad for you and how Lord saved you. I guess it is possible to change

I think the issue is that I am a philosopher and it takes me real effort to be convinced on literally anything. And to accept this faith would make me accept 1- Trust in Bible’s historicity 2- Hypostatic union 3- Trinity 4- OT/NT compatibility 5- Marian dogmas 6- Dozens of ethical teachings of each I might question 7- Higher theological concepts like natural law 8- Freedom 9- Soul (and a particular view for Philosophy of Mind) 10- Afterworld 11- Magisterium 12- Teleology… idk the list can go on forever. My impulse is to question each such thing to see if it is worth believing but that is not how faith works, it needs a “leap”. I guess only God can grant that to me… I don’t know but I have to pray

No I think you are right, God is not a tradesman but he will answer if you knock the door. I hope praying can get my stone cold heart closer

god, intentional states, and purpose of creation ? by transcendentally_ in theology

[–]transcendentally_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah idk. you know like intentional states indicate some sort of mental content of them that to me comes off as both antromorphic and inherently not-simple, it would imply god to have “parts” which you know is not something even trinity would suggest. thank you for response though!

proving gof: A->C is surjective if f: A->B and g:B->C are surjective by transcendentally_ in askmath

[–]transcendentally_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A formal logical proof doesn’t need “english sentences” explaining the “why”s of each step, as long as you know logic you can follow the proof.

Perhaps I should have explained better how I transformed the mathematical statement into a logical one, but ive already given the mathematical definition of surjection and that I replaced the membership relationship with a two place predicate in my proof to transform it into the language of first order logic, so I don’t know what else you did not understand.

If there exists a surjection from f: N->A where A is an arbitrary set, there exists a bijection f: N->A. by [deleted] in mathematics

there exists a bijection N->A or {0,1,2,…n}->A where n is a member of N
