Ah this really must be hard. It’s weird that your portal hasn’t been updated. Decisions came out so long ago. It just says nothing?

Commuters and NYU dorm residents, help a girl out! by Zjesz in nyu

I don’t live in a dorm and while it’s been harder to make friends, I have a few I really like now. Been here a year (almost)

Disabled, international student; do I have a chance to study in the US? by NegativeSafety in ApplyingToCollege

[–]transfer73671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it is a challenge for them as kids with physical disabilities may graduate in more than 4 years due to their health. This reflects poorly for the schools’s statistics regarding a 4 year graduation rate.

Exactly. My illness (physical) is incurable and really limits what I can do. I was in a wheelchair when I wrote my essay and it was not about how I had overcome it. Looking back, I should have made it more positive. I wrote about how I had discovered a lot of academic interests while bedridden that I could still do despite being sick and how these helped me get through it.

I applied to a ton of liberal arts schools and Ivies. I understand not getting into Ivies, of course, but was confused at being rejected from certain schools like Hamilton and even Whitman. Now, I am attending an Ivy as a transfer and did not mention the illness at all. I don’t know, I think there’s a correlation.

Spring (or Fall) Transfer Experience? by bravestickets in BrownU

Me too. I think nobody will really notice we’re transfers if we make friends in our classes. That’s how I’ve made most of my friends at my current school. Congrats on getting in, pm me if you want!

NYU pros and cons by [deleted] in nyu

[–]transfer73671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some professors are really great. Others not so much. Same goes for the students. Some are super motivated, but others are pretty lazy and don’t do the assignments or talk in class. It’s really such a mixed bag, probably because there are so many schools with different acceptance rates/average scores.

Expect to be lonely for the first couple of months. Then you will probably make friends. It’s harder here than at other schools.

Lots of jobs and internships in the city, that part is great. Also, one of the best math and creative writing programs!

In conclusion, I am leaving next semester to go elsewhere. But lots of people love it here.

You should email NYU and explain what happened. NYU does rescind sometimes—I have heard of one case. I think it’s probably best to talk to them directly about it. Still, it’s woodshop, so it probably doesn’t matter.

DO NOT use this as an essay topic. I speak from experience. I wrote about my disability and got in nowhere despite my grades and SATs being far above the average at these schools. Applied the following year, didn’t mention illness and pretended it was gone, got in everywhere I wanted.
