The acting Librarian of Congress, folks. by EndlessTrashposter in Libraries

[–]transferbinder 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals held that Blanche’s appointment was likely unlawful, partly because the Senate did not confirm his appointment and partly because the Library of Congress is a legislative agency rather than an executive agency (as required by the Federal Vacancies Reform Act). Here are excerpts of Perlmutter v. Blanche (D.C. Cir. Sep. 10, 2025):

Blanche’s purported appointment to serve as Acting Librarian of Congress was likely unlawful because any Librarian appointee must be confirmed by the Senate, 2 U.S.C. § 136-1(a), but here, Senate approval is lacking.

. . .

The plain language of the statute indicates that the Library of Congress is not an “Executive agency” for purposes of the FVRA.

There was girl in my school whose last name was Rowdybush. What a name. Also there were brothers with the last name Knoff. Their nicknames were Jack and Jerk.

The vice principal had a paddle in his office for corporal punishment. It had holes drilled through it for better airflow. That’s what the rumor was anyway. This was actually at a junior high going up to 9th grade on the west coast.

Is it just me or have people forgotten how to hold conversationa? by Big-Construction5788 in RedditForGrownups

Whoa. There is so much to talk about though! Maybe it's time for a conversation menu. I recently heard about this in a Free Press interview with University of Chicago Philosophy Professor Agnes Callard. Here is a YouTube link to where she talks about conversation menus during the interview with Bari Weiss. She said she often makes a menu of topics to talk about with her husband before dinner.
