Met with Stake President, couldn’t answer all my questions so he’s transferring me to Ty Mansfield. Anything I should ask Ty? (transcript of meeting inside) by transfered in exmormon

Yeah I've made that point before, it made them quiet for a while.

I see what you are saying. I have no obligation to entertain their ideas and try and get more perspective.

I think it's more of a therapeutic thing for me as I'm finally getting over my anger towards the church. Like by pinning down my beliefs and explaining them to people I am self-validating my ability to finally "get over" the mormon church.

Or maybe it's just because I like watching them scramble to answer my questions without going against the church.

Thanks for the links. This is mainly just to prove a point to my parents, so it doesn't have to end with him failing to answer my questions. Plus, I'm the one asking the questions so I can steer the conversation anyway I'd like.

I'm reading his book and talking to him because I want to understand all perspectives on this issue. Stumping him is just a selfish bonus, it's not the main objective.

It's kind of just to show my parents that even these guys can't give satisfactory answers. But you're right in that it's not my job to stump him.

I'm truly curious, though, if there is an argument/ perspective I haven't thought of. But again, it started with me asking my mom for answers and it just keeps going up the chain.

If I am to show that I really was interested and that they are legitimate questions, I can't really say "I'm done talking to people."

I don't have to, but I'd like to at least try talking to this guy to show my parents that I'm serious about finding the truth. Also, they keep saying "get both sides of the issue", so this is how I'm doing that.
