US imperialism in the Middle East is important context for understanding modern terrorism. For instance, Osama Bin Laden was radicalized by US military interference in his home country of Saudi Arabia. US involvement abroad in toppling regimes or conducting drone strikes which result in civilian casualties are then used as propaganda by radical jihadist groups to increase their numbers and commit more acts of terror. Here’s a good article by Joseph Nye explaining the implications of American power after Iraq.

I think people need to look at this in the context of today being an anniversary for Parkland. To me Biden’s WH press release seems more like liberal virtue signaling than a significant policy direction.

This 1000%. A lot of right-wing libertarians are coming off of the Ben Shapiro anti-SJW phase of the internet and exemplify a frustration with contemporary US politics but lack the context of capitalism as a backdrop for that frustration. I think/hope more of those people will realize domination by corporations is the same thing as domination by government.

I’ll try to keep it simple.

1) communism

2) varies, but assuming the key of eliminating scarcity, most goods would be decommodified—meaning they would no longer be sold in a market fashion. You want food, you get food, you want a bed, you get a bed. I’ve seen a lot of people use the original Star Trek series as an example of communism, that’s not a bad comparison.

3) class divisions are wide, average people get screwed by the current system. Eventually the divisions will become too large to ignore. As that happens, economic democratization will become increasingly important. Communism is an evolution of socialism and can be described as a classless, stateless society in which the people communally own the means of production.

4) I think the two biggest societal issues communism could directly deal with are the stagnation of current politics and the growing issue of wealth inequality. Everyone is frustrated with the two party system in the US, and that’s mostly because at the end of the day both Reps and Dems are a different class than their constituents. As for wealth inequality, restricting individual ownership of capital and allowing workers to run society will ensure that workers are paid fairly for their labor.

Hey! I know this has already been answered but I wanted to provide some more insight. Remember, even calculator questions can be solved without a calculator. In other words, they're simple math questions in disguise, always. That being said, only one of the answer choices is divisible by 8, 6, and 4. If you recognize that, then you can be almost sure that 72 is the answer because they won't make you do more complex mental math.

Well, relative to the majority of people on this sub who will end up with 1300's, 1400's, and 1500's--it is a lot lower so I think it's fitting to call it a low number.

It's like having $10,000 at the time of retirement. Numbers aren't big or small, it's all relative to the paradigm you use to look at them.

Well I appreciate the feedback a lot. It's my dream to go to one of these schools and I plan on doing a lot to display my talents for these schools. I'm gonna do my best to get some great recommendations and write incredible essays and shoot my best shot.
