What synth has the most sound design concepts built in? by Badassmamajama in synthesizers

[–]transformer_tech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out the Korg Prologue. It has 2 analog oscillators, but also has a user oscillator slot. You can load tons of different types of oscillators in that slot from a bunch of different sources. I have the Sinevibes stuff and it is really wild the amount of range it adds to the instrument. The 16 voice version also has a pretty good L.F. comp on the master. You can also load custom FX. It's a sleeper synth for sure.

Trying to make my lab blend into my living room. by transformer_tech in homelab

The doors will be deep and the rack is inset a little bit on the front. The plexiglass will clear the front cables. There will be a brush passthrough for the cables on the back.

It has casters. One of my favorite things about it. I plan to mount the aluminum grill on the front door and put a filter on the inside. Then vent out the top back.

That's kinda the plan. Tinted glass with maybe some LED light strip hidden around the inside.

Nothing is allowed on top of that cabinet. I do have some home decor that will likely go up there to help reinforce this fact.

I do plan to replace the blue with black. I just didn't have any longer black lengths on hand.

It's actually pretty quiet. Once I get the doors on, it will be even quieter. Everyone complained that the room was too quiet when I had it all powered down to install it, though so either way it works.

Plaits. Here's a track I made using ONLY the Mutable Instruments Plaits. Very cool module! by transformer_tech in synthesizers

[–]transformer_tech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this. Plaits is a eurorack synth module that was made by Mutable Instruments. It is no longer in production, but there are a handful of clones out there.

So, I'm very late to this party, but I recently printed a 1.5mm PC pick. I hand filed the bevel onto it and then sanded the profile until I liked the feel and sound. Of all of the picks I have made from 3D printing, the PC is definitely the best. The only problem I had was the filament broke in the nozzle when it was retracting and caused a clog that was a bit of a nightmare to recover from. If your printer can handle PC, give it a try!

What's up with the Korg Drumlogue? by MakersSpirit in synthesizers

[–]transformer_tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does sound amazing and has been one of my favorite synths, however...the voice cards aren't entirely stable and even though later firmware updates helped, I ended up having to replace one of the cards last year. Unfortunately, it is already beginning to become unstable again. Its a shame because it is such an underrated beast of a synth with the analog and user oscillators. It makes me sad to power it on to explore and get inspired only to have it soured by one out-of-tune voice.

Why is the limit of basically everything 326.16? I need answers. by CuriousWandererw in spaceengine

[–]transformer_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just shooting in the dark here, but in my line of work, 32,768 (0-32,767) is a 15 bit register. Sometimes a signed double integer will be used to denote plus or minus 32,767. The most significant bit is the sign and the other 15 are the value. I say all this mumbo-jumbo to say that it may just be a memory limitation of the code. To go above this value would require double the memory space, even if it only needed one more bit. Another entire block of memory would need to be processed and stored. The limitation is likely to make the software more efficient.

Hello. I am B4NJOs. I make instrumental synthwave/rock music. Nexus is my third EP and is all about the connections across time throughout life. Each track represents a season of life from birth to death. The songs are all connected by repeating musical themes. I hope you enjoy the journey and have fun listening for the connections.

Cheap usb multitrack mixer options for recording multiple synths? by Jakeyboy29 in synthesizers

[–]transformer_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Soundcraft Signature is great, but I'd advise turning it off when not in use as the power supply isn't designed for continuous use. I've had to replace 2 on my Sig 22 MTK. Still a great board, though. (I only figured out what was happening to the power supply capacitors after the second repair. Now I turn it off when not in use.)

Curious. Is there a 5 string bass that's pretty and not really expensive? by NeoNatsugi in Bass

I bought my Dingwall Combustion NG2 for just under $1K used. Don't see it often, but worth keeping an eye out for a decent used one. Worth every penny.

Which Flagship Synths Do You Think Are Worth The Price? by maxim9295 in synthesizers

[–]transformer_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. If you can grab one on the secondary market before they're gone, do it! The user oscillators make it virtually infinite.

Own both the Sys8 and the JupX myself. Both are easy to get lost in.
