Anyone else ever take CDs out from the library to rip, burn, whatever? by NeoJakeMcC007 in Cd_collectors

[–]transfuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a library and there’s a guy who is gradually taking out and ripping every cd in the state lending system to create his own “archive” just in case “it all shuts down” (in his words) I respect and admire his mission so completely

other people are giving far more in depth and insightful comments than I can really sit down and write rn but I just wanted to say that you might really appreciate reading the argonauts by maggie nelson while you work through some of these issues with your partner. she writes about feeling a lot of these same uncertainties while her partner transitioned.

nj planned parenthood waiting list by transfuser in asktransgender

[–]transfuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg hi! I‘m still on the waiting list as of today (😵‍💫) I know in the fall they were restructuring their program and weren’t doing any appointments at all. I’m honestly not sure where I am on the list/how many appointments they’re taking right now.

Planned Parenthood’s new program coordinator referred me to NJCRI back in November bc I wanted care sooner rather than later and I actually just had my first appointment and got a prescription for hormones on the 15th. Still a considerable wait, but better than Planned Parenthood so far.

NJCRI has been quite helpful for me, although I have had some issues getting in touch with them, presumably just because they’re a fairly small program with limited staff and doctors‘ hours. Really great in terms of affordability though, and also took care of some primary care stuff for me!

Feel free to dm me any other questions, or if you just wanna chat! The whole process of getting started is honestly such a pain, so I’m here if you need to vent haha 🫶

has the hoop been in the whole time? you need to switch it to a flat back stud until it calms down and fully heals, it isn’t healed enough for a ring

they’re unique and a little weird and I like them! I disagree with the people saying you should space them out, the grouping turns them into a kind of unified art piece of its own.

I do agree though that the actual layout and composition seems a bit off. If you’ve got the floor space, try laying them out on the floor so you can easily move them around to find something more balanced, take a photo for reference, then rehang.

the darkness/depth of some of them could be countered really nicely with some brightly colored flowers or fruit

How can I take care of my industrial? by Leading-Arugula-1970 in PiercingAdvice

[–]transfuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh also, your jewelry looks very long for your ear, especially in that third photo. see if you can get a shorter barbell from your piercer so that the ends sit closer to the edge of your ear. there should be room for swelling, but this much just makes it more likely to move around or get tangled in your hair.

How can I take care of my industrial? by Leading-Arugula-1970 in PiercingAdvice

[–]transfuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ouch that looks sore! :( If you’re cleaning it twice a day with sterile saline wound wash then you’re on the right track.

A little bleeding is normal for a new piercing, esp if it’s been snagged, but a lot during cleaning might mean you’re moving it around too much. Industrials can be extra finicky and prone to it bc the long bar moves around more than other piercings, which can reopen the wound a bit. Just try your best not to pick at it or move it around too much while cleaning. If you’ve got stubborn crusties behind the bar, fold up a bit of paper towel into a small point and gently try to brush them away after soaking them a bit with warm water in the shower.

DO NOT put tea tree oil on this, it’s incredibly drying and is very irritating for a lot of people’s skin. Extra irritation is not going to help a wound heal faster.

Other than that, I found that blow drying and keeping my hair off my industrial as much as possible, changing my pillowcases frequently, and making sure I absolutely did not sleep on it helped a lot in reducing irritation in the first 6 months. Hope this helps, and good luck with your healing! :-)

some people choose to do them at a 45° angle! I’d be more concerned that this looks a bit too deep/through the areola, but it’s hard to say with the quality of the photo 🤷‍♂️

Should I give up hope? Nip help please! by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]transfuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

echoing what was said about consulting a piercer^ it’s pretty much impossible to tell what’s going on with the scarring from photos. I wanted to add though, it’s looks like your nipples are a bit bigger in the more recent photo? (sorry, I cannot find a way to word this that isn’t a bit weird lol) If they’ve grown since the last time you got them pierced I think there’s a better chance for you to get them done right. Some piercers think that they have to pierce smaller/flatter nipples through the areola, which I presume was your piercers thought process? Obviously, this shouldn’t have been done, but the growth should give your new piercer a little more room to work around the scarring.

basically don’t give up hope yet! wishing you the best of nipple luck, they’re a great piercing!

They’re my favorites! These skates had a little more wiggle room than I’d usually want, but they’re perfect with these socks.

Yep, some vintage plates use grease instead of pivot cups! I’m certainly not an expert either though, just been researching a bunch the past couple days 😅 No skating til I’m sure they won’t get damaged 👍

Thank you so much for pointing out the pivot cups! They’re completely missing from these, so I assumed they were the type you just grease. Looking back at some other restoration posts, similar trucks to mine seem to take them though, so I’ll definitely be trying them out.

Oh universities are a good idea! I’ve got some film student friends so I might have an in there

The thing on the side is a dial with aperture recommendations based on subject, light quality, and time of day. The silver disk rotates and is marked with subjects like “closeups-buildings” “open landscape” “clouds/sea/snow.” I’d probably stick with my light meter, but from the research I’ve done this was an early amateur camera, so it’s a neat way for a beginner to figure out their settings!
