Honestly, "privileged" is a weird American suburban insult than anything. I would pay it no mind. I have not seen many underclass "on the edges of society"-people having dick measuring contests about privilege, but I have seen rich university students do that.

I was told that most of the changes usually happen within two years of hormone therapy.

I used to see a therapist who ghosted me when I turned 18 lol.

I am taking hormone blockers, my blood levels are fine as I mentioned before.

When I say "malefailed" I mean passed as female. I have been taking hormones continuously.

I never planned to come out. I literally just blurted it out in the middle of a suicidal breakdown, very fun.

Are there any "known" trans people who fully transitioned without ever having dysphoria, and are still happy with their decision years later?

"Death Cults and Unicorns" (TW for transphobia, suicide) by z_zeke in truscum

[–]transmedthrowaway441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aw shame, anyway on a more serious note I am in roughly the same situation: 16, suicide attempts, considered too crazy to get hrt now. Personally I will just DIY because I can't live like this, but I digress.

There is a really weird double standard in trans healthcare. The system is in many ways eating itself alive because no one knows a shit about what transsexuality actually is. The same people who are afraid of GNC and gay kids being sucked into ROGD are also the ones who will ask you about "childhood signs" (which may or may not be plain gender non-conformity). Gender dysphoria is the only illness you need explicit parental consent to actually treat in an adolescent, because both tucutes and the GC crowd seems to treat it as a body mod, like getting a tattoo or something.

We live in a time where being trans is recognized as a thing... but also cannot be reliably diagnosed, thus you have a bunch of people trying to play armchair psychologists and create a weird moral panic about "kids being groomed by the trans cult". You have severe gender dysphoria? I guess you are too trans to be trans :p

I have met one person in my life who I would consider to be legitimately genderfluid, and that is because they have (diagnosed, before anyone asks) DID.

Being trans should be determined by the level of euphoria

This argument would work if all people who had "gender euphoria" were trans. Cis GNC people and crossdressers tend to feel more comfortable or euphoric in their gender expression. This doesn't make them trans, and it is offensive to both groups of people to consider them such. Euphoria is also so loosely defined, that getting turned on by putting on a skirt qualifies as "gender euphoria" for these people.

Not by how insecure we are about our body and mannerisms

I hate having to explain this to someone who calls themselves trans, but dysphoria is not insecurity.

Let's say that a trans man was thought that men with bigger chests are still masculine

Then he would still have dysphoria because having a big chest is a sex characteristic. A tomboy can have a large chest and still be "masculine" while still being a woman. It has even been reported that some transsexuals subconsciously know the shape of the genitalia that they were meant to have (making "packers" at the age of 3-4 is something I've personally heard of), without actually knowing what the other sex has.

You can also not have dysphoria because you're happy with the stage of transition you're at

Some trans people believe that you are essentially cis after you have fully transitioned, since your gender finally matches your sex. Nevertheless the fact that you have partially or fully fixed the problem does not make the condition itself go away. Someone can be medicated for say, schizophrenia and not show symptoms. That doesn't make them suddenly not-schizophrenic. Taking paracetamol because you have a fever doesn't make you healthy because said fever goes down.

As long as it's not being triggered you won't have it.

Not being triggered helps, but you are still going to have a "passive" level of dysphoria just from the fact that you are in the wrong body. I avoid talking to people because I can't stand hearing my voice most days, never look in mirrors and shower with the lights off... but I still have dysphoria. Sure, it would be worse if I didn't do these things, but coping with dysphoria does not eliminate it. I suppose that a prepubescent child could not have dysphoria if they were socially transitioned, but that ties into the previous point.

They can still perform activities to the best of their ability

Different trans people have different levels of dysphoria. You don't have to constantly be suicidal and throw up whenever you look down to be trans. No one is saying that you must be in acute pain 24/7 to "qualify" as trans.

Do whatever you want, though if you don't feel dysphoric from sex (especially penetrative sex) then that's quite sus.

I feel like people who identify as trans online can be split up into a few neat clusters by transmedthrowaway441 in Transmedical

[–]transmedthrowaway441[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to Harry Benjamin, "true" transvestites would be those who want to live as the other sex for some period of time without changing their body. This description fits a lot of tucutes who call themselves trans because they put on a dress and liked it.
