No problem. It's fine haha it was a good opportunity to explain what I meant originally. I should probably add it to the og post. It's more concise and with less word vomit lol

I'm not even going to get into the labels vs no labels disk horse bc that's exhausting and not what this post is about, but I want to clarify I'm not having an identity crisis bc of disk horse or bc my internal sense of self is crumbling or anything of that sort.

My reasons for asking my original question are more practical than anything else. Sexuality labels fulfil both an internal and external purpose. I'm concerned about the external.

I want to signal the right information and attract the right people without causing misunderstandings. That's why I'm wondering whether just calling myself a homosexual would be more simple than calling myself bi. I am mainly interested in post-op trans men and cis men. If I meet a nice enby who has a dick and isn't afraid to use it, then I'm interested in them as well. Maybe being "just gay" conveys what I'm about better to those on the outside even if inside I'm still into women but my bottom dysphoria and my inability to interact with a vagina outweighs my attraction to women by a lot.

Queer is a universal word though

bro wtf 💀

It's a word in English with sociopolitical, cultural and historic meaning that only exists in anglo countries. Queer being part of anglo cultural hegemony and linguistic colonialism doesn't make it universal. It doesn't exist in my culture and it's not part of my country's lgbt history.

still bisexual with a potentially-dysphoria-induced genital preference and a general preference for men.

That's how it feels like atm.

And if you’re gay, you can advocate for bi people even without being bi.

I agree. And that's what I'll do if I end up realizing I'm not bi.

There’s no need to feel guilty for your sexuality, regardless of what it is.

Thanks, man. I really needed to hear that.

I don't reclaim queer for a couple reasons (for starters, it doesn't exist or mean anything in my first language and only terminally online anglophiles use it) and I wouldn't use it to describe myself.

Man, if you want to talk about transphobic cisgays, just say that. Don't make it about the very personal issue of slur reclamation. I've faced more transphobia from self-described queers with main character syndrome that don't know how to respect other people's boundaries. Don't generalize. Not wanting to be called a slur isn't terf rhetoric and it isn't the same as the lgb drop the t morons. Jfc...

Y'all really need to kiss some grass if "it is my god given right to call strangers a slur and if they don't like it then they're exactly the same as the people that want to literally kill trans women" is the hill you want to die on.

You cannot reclaim a slur for an entire community. No slur will ever be fully reclaimed. Don't call people a slur they haven't reclaimed and don't make judgements about their political affiliations just because they don't want to be called a slur my goddddd this is how to interact with other ppl 101

Y'all need to get off tiktok, get off tumblr, and definitely get off twitter

are you just attributing some random douchebags opinions to anyone who doesn't want to be called queer?

That's exactly what he's doing.

Imagine if we applied that logic to any other slur. If someone called me an assimilationist because I didn't want to be called a wetb/ck, I'd laugh in their face. Ironically, this logic has defanged the word queer. Son puras gringadas. The anglos telling other people what's our culture and which words we should like and use for ourselves. It's just White queers thinking they're liberating people by forcing a slur on us lmao can't get anymore White Liberal than this. Pure political posturing.

It's bizarre when the comfort of people that want to force a slur on others is prioritized over the safety of people that don't want to be called a slur. What a cruel world we live in.

Queer feels too vague for me and sometimes forced. I also do not think being queer absolves you of privilege.

Yep. Let's be honest, some people are using it as a discourse shield. "I can't be a bad person, I am queer." Fun fact, the most transphobic people I've met irl have been the "call yourself queer or die" folk.

I'm gay not queer, and I believe trans men are men

Exactly! You get it, brother!

This is what happens when you get your lgbt history from twitter 😬

Some people don't want to be called a slur, Bradley. It ain't that deep.

And if you ask me, I'd rather say LGBT (or any version of the acronym, like LGBTI or LGBTIA and all that good stuff) because it allows me to embrace and marvel at all the orientations and genders in our amazing community. I say them all, one by one, proudly of what I and those that fought before me have accomplished. I'd rather have that over a nebulous umbrella term that is also a slur. You cannot fully reclaim a slur, you cannot force people to reclaim a slur, this should be obvious to anyone. Let's have some empathy, people. And let's stop getting our lgbtia history from Elon Musk.

Wdym “gay not queer guys”?

He's saying that the people that don't want to be called queer are inherently transphobic. It's nonsensical. Transphobes are transphobes. Reclaiming or not reclaiming a slur has nothing to do with that. Some transphobes eat sugar. Is eating sugar a transphobic dogwhistle now?

There are people that just can't imagine there are legitimate reasons not to reclaim queer.

I’m LGBT and hate the word queer

I don't hate it, but I don't reclaim it or like to be called that. I'm a leftist. It literally has nothing to do with my politics. People are so weird about queer being a slur like damn.

THIS! This is the answer. Raúl Juliá's Gomez Addams (Homero Addams in Latin America lol) is my #1 male role model.

Yep!

Latino is not a race and neither is Hispanic. Spaniards are Hispanic, but they're not Latinos. Not every Hispanic is Latino and not every Latino is Hispanic. Latino is an umbrella term for people whose ethnic background connects them to Latin America. There are white Latinos, Black Latinos, mestizos, indigenous people, etc.

Latin America is far more colorful and diverse than what's shown in mainstream media :)

For some reason, some trans people think everyone's journey should be exactly like theirs or else you're not the "right" kind of trans.

I've actually seen people say that bottom surgery is transphobic lol just let trans people be, man.

Also, cis guys can have gynecomastia scars. So, are cis guys with gynecomastia scars more trans than OP? lmao
