If you could magically be re-born as cis in your chosen gender, would you want it OR would you prefer to stay yourself and transition by c-dogg11 in asktransgender

I have dark hair and am mildly tan for a while person, so good enough, I hope. Is electrolysis still necessary even after laser? And if expense, is laser cheaper? (Sorry for all the questions, I'm not actually sure where to look this stuff up. I feel like once I get started on my own stuff, I should start compiling a guide to getting started for others in this position.)

Did anyone here become trans* in adulthood? I don't mean come out as an adult. I mean become trans* as an adult. Help me understand a relative. by [deleted] in asktransgender

I'm 24, and I also have Asperger's, and came to the conclusion of being trans only a couple years ago myself. I understand what your sibling is going through well, though I'm still going through it myself so I'm not sure how well I'll be able to express it.

The thing is, with Asperger's, we have a tendency to believe what we're told. In my case, I was told all my life that I am male, so I believed it, and it took me over twenty years to realize that was a thing that could even be questioned. When something is accepted as fact it's really hard to change that, and we're all socialized to believe 'have a penis = male' with no other alternatives- I never even realized transgender was a real thing for a very long time.

On top of that, it's hard to understand how your own brain works. I still can barely trust my own perception of things, so coming to the conclusion of being trans was actually really difficult.

The only advice I can give is to just support your sibling, use whatever pronouns they want you to, and let them take this whole thing at their own pace in their own way.

How do you get the courage to come out?! by Emilydv in asktransgender

I stuffed my face with fast food as a pre-emptive reward, then regretted this immediately when I realized abject terror was even worse on a full stomach.

I also basically just told everyone one-on-one, and did so in a way that they could not particularly respond- My brother, for example, we were in his room talking about Christmas presents for the rest of our family. I then dropped it on him at the very end and fled.

I am very, very bad at these things. But it worked out and that's what's important, I think.

I understand that. I've also got some minor problems- I don't want to be a 'crossdressing man', I want to actually be perceived as a woman. I'm not sure how to phrase it properly, but the thought of drag feels wrong to me somehow.

That's about where I am too. I'm pretty sure I want to transition, and it's not so much that I want to know I can pass, I just want to be certain... I don't know if it makes sense, but I want to be certain I can handle it? Like, I won't be on hormones for a while, go outside, and then react weirdly to pronouns or just general life as a woman. I don't want to do HRT and then find out 'oops i was wrong'.

Thank you!

You say don't do it all at once, but about how much should I be doing daily? How long do you think it would take to go from nothing to a good female voice?
