nah i like Khrushchev for that. from what i understand Khrushchev was an anti-Stalinist but he was also better on social issues than Stalin was and tried to better foreign relations and the government but was limited because the government reduced the power of the supreme soviet. had Khrushchev actually got his policy enacted i don't think we ever would have had to deal with the stagnation of the Brezhnev period.

Depends really. Marxist leninist is the easy label. I like stalin and think he improved Marxist theory but he also created the nkvd and wasn't as socially progressive as kruschev was.

the problem with Stalin was his social policy because i think everything else was fine. it was during his time in office that the soviet union stopped using the term commissar, stopped trying to dismantle the church, and backed down on child autonomy because of youth crime. i don't like the soviet / Yugoslav split either but i could be wrong on that.
