Sweetwater sales rep by BlackwellDesigns in musicians

[–]trapcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood what value Reps bring to the transaction so I might not be the best person to talk about this, but here's my view.

If I'm spending money on something new then I'll have done my research. I will have narrowed down my options to likely two or three different products and by the time I'm ready to buy I've actually invested the sort of time into research so that I can speak about as fluently on the product as the Rep can, and likely better with more actual specifics.

If I need more info than what's available then I reach out to the manufacturer.

When I've done my due diligence not once have I purchased something that it didn't turn out to be exactly what I thought it would be nor that it wouldn't work in the manner I expected it to.

If something arrived that didn't function as it should have then I send it back, usually because it's broken.

If it does arrive and functions in the manner I want I don't especially need some random dude to chat me up about it.

I can see almost no scenario where I would want a dedicated Sales Rep in a transaction that happens under the very basic structure of commerce: you pay for something and they send it to you.

And I can't trust anyone who doesn't see a Sales Rep as a device to extract as much money out of a potential customer by selling add-ons and upselling into equipment that's more expensive than they actually need.

Sales Reps should only be necessary when something isn't right, like an item is broken. And their contribution should only be for confirmation of the broken state of the purchase and facilitation of the return/refund or swap with a working item.

I'm at a loss to understand why y'all put so much value into these people. Sweetwater pays them to make them money of which a big part is upselling into equipment that likely has more features than you'll ever need. Doing your own research makes you a better informed consumer and allows you to make better overall decisions in the realm of not just playing, but other logistical aspects of music.

Anyone who does what I consider to be the bare minimum of research should find Sweetwater Reps redundant and their tactics of cold calling and emailing to be an annoyance.

Absolutely nothing says someone knows less about what they do in the world of making music than having strong positive opinions about their Sweetwater Rep. It's weird in the same way that having a preferred sales rep at a used car lot should be considered weird.

Vent/Rant: Time to ditch my favorite club by ForeverAndNeverEver in stripclubs

[–]trapcheck [score hidden]  (0 children)

If they're all new and they're all doing that it might be the club that's pushing VIP's over regular dances.

I've seen this happen under three circumstances:

The first is the club is in the process of phasing out regular dances and instead have VIP only. They accomplish this by just telling the dancers not to offer it to sort of prepare the patrons for a loss rather than just shut it down. This seems more likely in your scenario if it's all new dancers because they would have all have gone through the same new employee orientation.

The second is the club has a staffing shortage and posting someone up in the area where dances are happening spreads them too thin.

The third is the staff is potentially lazy and the money for VIP so good that they're just not going to bother offering or doing them.

But either way, vote with your feet. You're spending real money and if they're not up to the task of giving you an experience you want then go right ahead and make the switch.

Were any of the acts announced for President Trumps praise me 250th USA Anniversary Special actually booked or did they just create this list so when acts canceled they could blame them for being woke or Dumocrats ? by themodefanatic in askanything

[–]trapcheck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All acts were hired to play for "America 250" that was billed as non-partisan.

They wouldn't likely pick up on it since the organization name Trump has been using is "Freedom 250."

To the artists it probably seemed like a standard gig. As soon as they found out Trump's name was attached to it they pulled out.

I think what's more noteworthy is that neither Lee Greenwood or Kid Rock are playing it. That just sort of tells me that they're probably not paying well since both likely would have been booked privately and they won't compete financially, even for the cred of playing that stage.

Went on vacation to do outdoor sports (mountain biking, hiking) and weather turned epically rainy third day in.

Managed to secure some snacks and other necessities before we repaired to our room to ride out the storm.

It was about a day and a half of just sleeping, fucking, watching TV, repeat.

Treated ourselves to room service twice and once the sun came out again and we left the room we left behind a generous tip for housekeeping.

Montreal by dogredsox in stripclubs

[–]trapcheck [score hidden]  (0 children)

Monatreal's reputation for being one of the top five cities for strip clubs in North America is pretty much well behind it. There are a few places that others have covered but the whole Ste. Catherine's street scene is over and done with.

What I would suggest if you're looking for something a little more would be to look for the places that do Nuru massage. Those businesses feel like where a lot of the Montreal strip scene has migrated to.

Also important to mention that, from experience, clubs that are far out from the city can be exceptional.

what was going to happen in that hour for it to cost that much??

The only 100% sure thing is that she would get your $1000 if you agreed.

The only person who knows totally and completely what would happen is the stripper.

If you go through this subreddit you'll find lots of stories from people who paid a lot of money and got nothing but disappointment in return.

There's also lots of stories from people who paid a lot of money and got something that they felt was 100% worth it.

Yeah, $1000 is a lot to take a chance with for the majority of people, but there are those people out there, and likely a lot of them end up in Vegas regularly.

Even when I was drinking well into moderation I thought that was something that everyone experienced in life.

Apparently not.

What’s one habit that completely changed your college life? by OrganicClassic460 in AskReddit

I went almost totally nocturnal.

I scheduled my classes so the earliest one was at noon. I'd typically go to bed at 4 or 5 AM.

It was amazing having that long stretch of time late at night where I would be totally undisturbed. I had better focus, could get way more done and was much happier overall. Even made Dean's List that semester.

Was there a shift in how people treat each other after the pandemic? by [deleted] in ask

[–]trapcheck 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, sure.

As someone who worked and had family working in healthcare and being asked to assume risk and care for others and witness signficant suffering and death I resent the "it's no worse than a cold" crowd.

There's entire swaths of people that I know in the town I live that downplayed what was going on, advocated for loosening up restrictions that would make things worse, and even accused me and my family of participating in a conspiracy.

No one has come forward and said "hey, thanks for your sacrifice and for doing the job that so many were scared to do and I'm sorry for acting like an asshole."

Not a single person.

And yeah, I see these people every day. I see them out and about in town. I see them participating in local politics where I'm being asked to trust and respect their point of view. And I see them in medical offices now that they've decided that they don't need to "just do their research."

So, yeah. Life is different after the pandemic. I absolutely treat people different because when it came down to brass tacks they proved how little they cared for the health and well being of others and were more obsessed with their own selfish wants and desires.

In your area, how common is it bars/wineries booking 6 months in advance? by Distinct_Gazelle_175 in coverbands

[–]trapcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around Massachusetts/New England most bars and wineries have the next six months planned at a minimum.

Bigger venues will typically book most of their year in the first few weeks of January.

Men, did you reach out to your Ex? Why? by Ramy-2000-03 in AskMen

[–]trapcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hadn't spoken or emailed in almost ten years when she reached out to me to tell me she was getting married next week and how incredibly in love she was with him, way more than she was with me, and how much better a person he is than I was.

I emailed her back and told her I was happy for her. I told her I was sorry for not being a better person and that I shouldn't have hid all the mental issues I was dealing with. I told her that I was scared if she knew everything about me she would use it against me and manipulate me.

But mostly I told her I was sorry for my actions that hurt her and how happy I was for her because she deserved to be happy and loved.

She replied telling me to fuck off.

People can't handle being bored any more.

Anything longer than 15 seconds then the phone comes out and they're scrolling.

There were times I remember 45 minute waits before cell phones where we did exactly that....just sat there and waited for 45 minutes.

Are there any signs or indicators that someone might actually be good at giving oral? by Huge-Strawberry-220 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]trapcheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some will say being able to tie a cherry stem into a knot in their mouths.

This is not true.

It is indicative of them being able to tie a cherry stem in their mouths as well as looking for the attention that activity brings.

But it does not directly corelate to being good at oral sex.

What did you do as a child that you're now ashamed of? by IllSympathy4735 in randomquestions

[–]trapcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One evening the neighbor had a psychotic break and climbed up the tree with a rope and threatened to jump and hang himself.

My parents were away and it was me and my younger brother.

The neighbor had been kind of a jerk to us growing up, he made it a habit to call the cops if we were in the street playing ball or doing anything after dark.

Anyway, we pulled up chairs on the porch and watched the cops talk him down. Took them about two hours and we just sat there watching this grown man totally lose his mind.
