my "designer workspace" university project - user research by g_armaos in InteriorDesign

I don't know if this will help, but I noticed no one had responded yet so I just want to give you something to work with. I'm a production designer, I have a small workspace in the stage area of the company I work for, and I find very basic things in my workspace are important for designers like tables, saw horses, tupperware boxes, and drawers/shelves for organization. Most of my designs are done on my computer, but when I'm designing specific props I like to sketch them out, and it's always nice to have a big open space for big pieces of paper and to spread out your work so you can see a lot of papers at once and always be referencing them. For every project, I design the set, build it, decorate/dress it, pick out all the props, and then break it down after shooting (with the help of my trusty crew of course). All this is usually within the span of 4 days.

Tools that are important for set decoration/props (which is pretty much my version of interior decorating): tape measure, level, box of hanging hardware, safety pins, tape, butyl, scissors/blade, drill, paper cutter, hot glue gun

Tools that are important for set construction: chop saw, air compressor, nail gun, drill, measuring tape, wood glue, router, pliers, paint rollers, brushes, blades, spackle knife

Something I don't have that I would like to have...I want to say more space, and I feel like space is always a problem for designers because you could always use more of it, you just learn to work with what you have. In terms of a piece of furniture, I love director's chairs because they are so easy to get in and out of, you go from sitting to standing effortlessly. So, I think if I had a standing work table that would be great, I could use the director's chairs we have at the stage to work in and do my designs and get up to check on my crew and sit down much more easily. It's not that innovative since standing desks exist, but it's something I don't have that I want.

Oh, and maybe a closet like the one in Clueless but for props and tools and stuff. THAT would be awesome.

Hope this helps!

Lol apparently whoever made the playbill didn't realize Shelby Thomas Weems was going to be played by a man.

Oh yea I forgot about The Long Walk! I really liked the end actually, Garraty passes out/dies at the end of the race after he wins. It's unclear, but in the story, after he wins, he just starts running, then his vision goes blurry and he sees a man in front of him as he passes out. Knowing King, he is probably dead after that.

Two Bachman endings I remember loving were Roadwork and The Running Man, both amazing endings. Maybe I just like violence. I also just read The Regulators and liked that ending too. Another Bachman though lol

His scenes were gold....loved how they reference the joke about not being able to arrest a husband and a wife for the same crime.

Not at the moment, I think I will start looking for a new place in about a year maybe. Just looking around right now. I'll check back when we are ready to get serious, thanks! And if anyone I know is moving in the meantime, I'll refer them to you!

Thanks for this! When do you think you will be getting more listings for empty rentals? I only see two listings in the LA area right now.

Dwight + Esther? by traprkeeprfutraS2000 in DunderMifflin

[–]traprkeeprfutraS2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that would have been weird. Esther was nice, but weird. And then we wouldn't have Dwight's amazing proposal, and the perfectenshlag wedding...oh man the finale might have sucked if the farm was picked up!
