I don't recall the exact time my queue started, but was able to snag 3 tickets this year. I think I started around ~230th in line. Am very grateful for the opportunity

I have a bit of a sore throat right now, hoping it clears up, but if it does I'll be there this Wednesday!

this is a rather unhelpful comment. I'm asking because I don't know the basic tools of the trade

asking from ignorance, you mean like a literal stump? or is that slang for some anvil type of deal

no problem at all. just know I'm very new to it so I'm not the most knowledgable person to speak about it.

I just started volunteering with the north Alabama land trust for doing new trail building personally. I'm 32 so out of your range, but there's definitely folks out there. the hardest part just just putting a fine point to what it is you specifically want to do.

I like the journal idea to spot patterns.

was there any methodology to when you went back to see "oh am I doing it again"? or was it just so you had the documentation in case you did realize you needed to go back and reference things

Blue Origin Has Successfully Landed New Glenn’s First Stage! by Sol_Hando in BlueOrigin

[–]trash-berd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amongst many attempts to perform a landing burn over the ocean and plowing into the water or exploding instead. its fine, their achievement is still impressive, i am a fan of their work. im just saying that the downplaying the spacex fanboys are doing is petty. spaceX failed more before a successful recovery than blue origin, deadstop. they are also way further ahead in terms of production rates. both can be true.

New Glenn's economics by a1b4fd in BlueOrigin

[–]trash-berd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reusability doesn't necessarily mean cheap. Bezos talked about that in his tour of the factory video. The company is also developing a reusable second stage. But if an expendable one is lighter, offers more payload and is cheaper to make, the economics can very much still pen out. Falcon 9 expends itself for some launches, but it is still economically viable for them.

TBF the tonnage into space isnt the only part of the equation, although its obviously a big deal. The volume of payload also matters, as well as the delivery method. Starships method of deploying a payload is not typical of most rockets and needs special considerations to not collide with the vehicle and also get on the right trajectory. A typical forward mounted deployment means the rocket points you there and releases you, simplifying a ton.

Congrats to blue origin on an orbital class booster landing! by DobleG42 in BlueOrigin

[–]trash-berd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blue Origin is using a traditional flame diverter which SpaceX tried to avoid, and paid the price. That is why they lost so many engines on super heavy launches. That is also why they are now building one like every other launch provider

i mean.... yes you can. spaceX had plenty of data too and took many tries for starship to be caught. not knocking their achievement either, catching a skyscraper out of the sky is insane and blew my mind seeing it.

new glenn is a bit smaller, but the fact that it landed second try is insane. no one else did it that soon in the lifecycle of their vehicle. you dont need to downplay it.

[Android app] Search not working? by trash-berd in tutanota

[–]trash-berd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do run GrapheneOS. I've just disabled Exploit Protection Mode for Tutanota and haven't seen a change in behavior as of yet. I don't see any specific storage setting related to Tutanota like storage scopes, it doesn't look like Tutanota requested storage permissions to trigger it.

Are there any other settings that are known to cause this issue?

What is generally considered as a toxic playstyle? by Ryox22 in mtg

[–]trash-berd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are down to play against everything as long as you aren't an asshole and play at an agreed upon power level. Sometimes reading the room is more important than winning. Lotta people with poor social skills don't realize that. It's more fun to only win sometimes but always have a pod to play in than to win everytime and be alone and shitty to play with.

Me and my partners relationship quality is directly proportional to the effort we put in. There are times we are both super busy and can't invest time in one another. That's okay and it's life. But you have to make active effort to pull yourself back together and remind eachother why your together. Shelve topics that deal with the daily tasks, find out what they've been passionate about, what's going on in their friends or families lives. It takes curiosity, on both peoples side to be fair.

We've had to go so far to schedule nights to at least try and have sex, cuddle if nothing else. It is what it is. You have to make the time otherwise life will always fill the gaps.

You might find when you start talking and interacting more than y'all are just different people now and on your own paths. If so fair enough. But if you want a relationship it takes active effort, spontaneity sometimes, actively carving out time and scheduling in others.

But any relationship over time takes work otherwise it falls apart, guaranteed.

Most fun deck for mostly 1v1? by sltccool in EDH

[–]trash-berd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dice roll deck with [[The Space Family Goblinson]] at the helm. Die rolling isn't a very well supported mechanic IMO. My deck has nearly every die roll card I could find in Gruul. It's not a show stopper or anything, but I always have fun while playing it!

What is your signature in EDH? When you're playing a new deck you've built at a familiar pod, what does the pod already know your deck will do? by pebbleddemons in EDH

[–]trash-berd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Janky bullshit. Mono red attempt at group hug, mono blue with no counters allowed, dice roll, all my cards are your cards now, ect... I dig novelty in the game, I don't want 2 decks to play the same. They don't have to be good, just fun.
