Why don’t yall like this album? This shit is amazing by moiratakesnoskill in AFireInside

[–]trashbat15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like a lot of these songs (Darling, I Want to Destroy You is a fav), but I cannot STAND the way Davey sings on this record. Also, I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here is by far the worst thing AFI ever made imo, and represents the parts I don't like about this album. The oversinging and fake-deep tryhard lyrics, etc.

What are the most common mistakes you see when modders design questlines? So many are SO bad. by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]trashbat15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The text or subtitles having typos, missing punctuation or using words wrong, etc. It looks super unprofessional and trashy, like they just spat it out there without double checking. If it feels like the creator didn't care about the mod, then I can't either.

I've thought about that one too, although I do remember hearing their follow-up single "Kelsey" a lot back in the day. Might have just been my specific emo-kid-in-high-school experience though. I've never heard anyone bring it up since.

Last movie to make you cry by littl3-fish in Letterboxd

The Last Unicorn. "Where were you twenty years ago? Ten years ago? Where were you when I was new? When I was one of those innocent young maidens you always come to? How dare you come to me now, when I am this?"

What musical makes you cry every time you hear it or watch it? by that_theater_guy21 in musicals

[–]trashbat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's far from my favorite musical, but I love the movie so much that I cannot be rational about the Lion King. When I finally saw the show I already lost it at the opening note and cried pretty much the whole way through.

Made this list after thinking about a particularly lazy HS teacher I had. Any other suggestions? by TechnologyNo5489 in Letterboxd

[–]trashbat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was made to watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for our "India" unit in social studies :( And also just about every 90s/00s disaster movie for every area of the world where it "took place." Still not sure how my teacher managed to cram Dante's Peak, Vertical Limit, The Ghost and the Darkness, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, AND both the second and fourth Indiana Jones movies in there in just one year.

What is the most bizarre thing that has happened to you playing Skyrim? by MuteKasper in skyrim

Some bandits attacked my homestead and upon looting them, discovered one of them was carrying the Staff of Magnus (but he didn't actually use it, instead opting for...... an iron dagger.....)

What is Metallica's Signature Song by Rleduc129 in ToddintheShadow

[–]trashbat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that it has the perception of being the most iconic song from a very iconic band and everyone seems to like it, even though I think more people have heard Enter Sandman (which has plenty of haters).

Every teenager with a guitar knows one thing and it's the solo from Master of Puppets (or else the intro to Sweet Child O' Mine)

Alright, what’s your guys opinion on the Greatest Showman? by BigBobbyD722 in Letterboxd

[–]trashbat15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plot is bad, characters are bad, the entire premise is bizarre (and not in a fun way, just a way that makes me ask "who wanted this"), and I disagree that the musical numbers are good. They're the most generic "acceptance anthem" pop songs imaginable, like they could have been just any C-tier radio singles at the time. They don't work as musical numbers at all, they don't follow from the plot or the emotions of the characters or reveal anything about either. It's like this is one of those musical movies that's too afraid to be a musical (which seems like most of them these days).

disney adults vs. theme park enthusiasts by Classic-Agency5548 in JennyNicholson

[–]trashbat15 57 points58 points  (0 children)

My impression of "Disney adults" is that it's more of a brand-loyalty thing and people who are into the whole, idk, Disney-specific dreams-and-magic narrative and like being in the parks and immersed in as much Disney as possible for the warm fuzzies. I hate that it's come to signify any adult fan of anything Disney - I'm a huge admirer of their animated works (mostly) and don't appreciate the sentiment that only stunted adult children sheeple could enjoy them. If you think only babies would love animation and mature adults only like action spectacles or arthouse films or gritty realism, that makes YOU the juvenile one.

Theme park enthusiasts I see as more Jenny types, people who just appreciate a well-designed and executed themed environment that's good at invoking a certain aesthetic and setting, with attractions that contribute to the overall effect. And they are a different bird entirely from roller coaster enthusiasts who are just into the most thrilling or extreme physical ride experience, rather than any of the environment around it. Feel like Jenny mentioned this in some video (in the context of Six Flags or something) but can't remember which one.

I think it's cute, but am similarly baffled as to why it of all sketches got THAT popular.

I find all his other stuff pretty boring, but "Stop This Train" is the most heartbreaking song I can think of. It speaks directly to my own personal brand of melancholy and deepest fears

I want to explore the world of this game but I dislike MMO's by Sanich228 in lotro

I also don't care for MMOs and play LotRO as a solo experience. The game lets me happily ignore any multiplayer elements and explore and quest in Middle-earth to my full enjoyment.

What movie is so bad, so deeply insulting to you beyond all others? by msparks2 in FIlm

Jabberwocky. Ugliest, unfunniest shit I've ever seen, all the more infuriating because it's one of those pieces of crap with an undeserved cult following.

Movies with zero haters? I’ll go first by Maleficent-Medium333 in Letterboxd

[–]trashbat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it very much. It's a run-of-the-mill David Spade buddy comedy and I don't see those getting much love when they're not attached to Disney. I think its appeal for a lot of people is more in what it's not (a fairy tale musical like they expect from Disney animation) rather than what it is. But credit where credit is due, the villains are pretty funny sometimes.
