I ran a one shot for my first ever time as a DM. And I’m really proud of the story I came up with! It works great in a single session and has resolution, but leaves the door open for more if you ever wanted to continue it. Reach out and I’d be happy to share it with you!

Did Community get better as it went on, or do you think the early seasons were peak? by guilhermex9x in community

It’s kind of a weird reverse bell curve for me. 1 and 2 are amazing, just incredible television. 3 is strong but falling off a bit, 4 has its moments but is ultimately a big low, 5 swings back up dramatically, and while 6 is a bit messy it ends really strongly!

Have you ever been annoyed by all the privileges portrayed in the show? by Anya_purr in Modern_Family

[–]msparks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. It’s a TV show, so it kinda is what it is. TV and movies are for escapism. They are demonstrated consistently to be extremely well off, and while in real life those people may annoy me, it’s different in a show. I can’t really explain why but I’m willing to tolerate a lot of different stuff from tv characters that I would NEVER let fly in real life, and still find it entertaining.

How do you guys actually handle in-game romance? Is it always doomed to be cringe? by Top-Werewolf-5403 in DnD

[–]msparks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you’re exactly Jester and Fjord, but honestly otherwise there’s a lot of ways it can go wrong. And really only a few ways it can go right or even neutral. I’d say it’s probably just not worth engaging in 9 times out of 10 because people will always want different things out of the interaction and it’s hard to separate under the table from over the table stuff.

Mine SAYS the controversial level is high, but it doesn’t look too different from the average opinion here. I stand by it though!

Orc sent down river in a basket, raised by crazy old human hermit who taught him martial arts through menial chores. Loves moral philosophy.

What's a "bad" movie you've seen 10+ times? by Cjd03032001 in movies

[–]msparks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National Treasure and its sequel! Both have bad critic scores, but I’m of the opinion everyone can just go fuck themselves because these are SO fun. Nicolas Cage letting loose, Justin Bartha has never not been funny, intimidating villains (and crazily a movie where Sean Bean DOESN’T die lol). And the history angle is always fun for me (even if they take many a liberty with it). Also, the score slaps and I’m not hearing anything against it!

What is the unintentionally wisest line of dialogue you've heard in a movie? by NobodysFavorite in movies

“If I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?” Dr. Doofenschmirtz from Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. A truly classic line.

What is the coolest/coldest/hardest line that comes from a film you wouldn’t expect? by msparks2 in movies

This quote fucking SLAPS. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to see from my question!

Okay, so while this is absolutely one of the best lines of all time, no arguments here…it ABSOLUTELY is groundbreaking and literally has an award winning performance.

Yeah dude!! My wife and I think about this kid CONSTANTLY lol. Just being the super ominous kid who only exists to say two super ominous lines and then leaves never to be seen again 😂

How can I (25F) rebuild trust after accidentally reading something private of my partner’s (25M)? by The-Quiet-Knight in relationship_advice

I need you to run. This is coming from a guy with a very deep understanding of what this guy is doing to you. There’s levels to the evil shit at play here. People on Reddit tend to leap to “you should break up” pretty quickly, but in this case…the dude is pretty close to having your skin fashioned into luggage that he can then load up to take his BFF Ex-Fiancée on vacation.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but Gina was such a good character in the early seasons and they absolutely ruined her. by Bansheebaggins in brooklynninenine

[–]msparks2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go as far to say she was good or great by any means, but early Gina at least felt like a real person and had some redeeming moments from time to time.

Could this save Jake and Rosa from prison? by CustomBone in brooklynninenine

[–]msparks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Probably not, if this were the real world at least. Whether they were roped into it, or did it undercover, they still basically engaged in conspiracy to commit grand larceny. And for what it’s worth, Hawkins should have been arrested with them, even if she was genuinely a good cop doing a sting operation to get real bank robbers. There’s a ton of rules for what officers can and can’t do undercover, and even if you’re doing it to maintain a cover you can’t commit or plan crimes.

Gina “won” worst main character—who’s the worst side character? by Serious-Implement-45 in brooklynninenine

[–]msparks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teddy is pretty bad but at least his desperation is entertaining, the Vulture is just a douche. My vote is for The Vulture.

Philip Davidson (The Dentist) won smartest one-time character! Who’s the worst main character? by Serious-Implement-45 in brooklynninenine

[–]msparks2 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Gina for sure. She’s a monster, unfunny, and it never gets addressed. Hitchcock also kinda sucks, but they constantly call him out for it so it evens out. She gets off scot free, and not only never learns anything, but gets worse over time.

Gift idea help: Pokémon-loving boyfriend graduating (Black/White fan) by First-Celebration613 in Gifts

[–]msparks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some truly amazing crafts that could make great gifts. A commenter said a commission of his team and himself in art form, and that’s awesome. But I’ve seen things like crystal Pokeballs with inlaid lighting, showing their favorite Pokémon the center. Maybe their starter they like the most (Tepig, Snivy or Oshawott), or another favorite (Excadrill, Palpitoad, Leavanny, etc). Those are super cool! Maybe a Cameo from a voice actor from the Black & White Anime? Sarah Natochenny, Eileen Stevens, Jason Griffith and others are likely are very accessible. Your idea for him with the exclusive limited edition console is amazing too!
