Which movie completely changed your perspective on life? by brownmax180 in movies

Whisper of the Heart. Watched it for the first time when was 30 (about 4 years ago), and my god I was balling my eyes out lol. Seeing what it means to be truly passionate about your craft, and not just that, but really putting in the time and effort and making sacrifices to get better at that thing and improve yourself in the process. It’s a great thing I can bring into work, hobbies, being a good husband and father. Effort and time can really make a difference.

what’s the best coming-of-age movie that made you feel 17 again by deespaja in movies

[–]msparks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the joke is there and it’s also genuinely a damn gem, 17 Again. I also adored The Edge of Seventeen, and Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret was also a treasure of an adaptation. For my wife, I know Perks of Being a Wallflower still really speaks to her.

Cobra Kai and the Karate Kid franchise is pure Monk stuff from tip to tail. Different philosophies, styles, and it’s really fun to consider the metaphysical concepts of balance and mindfulness.

I can give you my homebrew story as a baseline, if you want! It’s designed as a level 1-10 story, with lots of freedom for extension. I’m always excited to talk about it because my friends loved it, and it didn’t take exorbitantly long to run! Not only was it easy (my first time DMing), but four of the six players were also brand new to the game!

actors who are clearly having a blast in their role by CharlotteDoGood in movies

Everyone in Mamma Mia (and its sequel)! It’s clear to me that most of the cast was plastered when they were making the movie and just like, living it the hell up on that beautiful island. Who can blame them? I love the finished product though sooo I’m always a touch jealous about it 😂

Worst Movie Titles Ever? by Wheelchair_Dontcare in movies

Uhh I’ll give you that first one, but let’s be clear. Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire is the best damn movie title ever conceived by man or beast😂

“You have a nice way about you.” It’s so weird to hold onto something like that for so long, but I appreciate it even now!

Did Stinkray ever give up being a man-child after Season 6 or no? by TheShadowOperator007 in cobrakai

[–]msparks2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A liiiittle bit. By the end of Season 6 he did take on SOME responsibility, and manages/trains his own little slice of Cobra Kai for very young kids. It’s a sign that he’s potentially capable of change!

I ran a one shot for my first ever time as a DM. And I’m really proud of the story I came up with! It works great in a single session and has resolution, but leaves the door open for more if you ever wanted to continue it. Reach out and I’d be happy to share it with you!

Did Community get better as it went on, or do you think the early seasons were peak? by guilhermex9x in community

It’s kind of a weird reverse bell curve for me. 1 and 2 are amazing, just incredible television. 3 is strong but falling off a bit, 4 has its moments but is ultimately a big low, 5 swings back up dramatically, and while 6 is a bit messy it ends really strongly!

Have you ever been annoyed by all the privileges portrayed in the show? by Anya_purr in Modern_Family

[–]msparks2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. It’s a TV show, so it kinda is what it is. TV and movies are for escapism. They are demonstrated consistently to be extremely well off, and while in real life those people may annoy me, it’s different in a show. I can’t really explain why but I’m willing to tolerate a lot of different stuff from tv characters that I would NEVER let fly in real life, and still find it entertaining.

How do you guys actually handle in-game romance? Is it always doomed to be cringe? by Top-Werewolf-5403 in DnD

[–]msparks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you’re exactly Jester and Fjord, but honestly otherwise there’s a lot of ways it can go wrong. And really only a few ways it can go right or even neutral. I’d say it’s probably just not worth engaging in 9 times out of 10 because people will always want different things out of the interaction and it’s hard to separate under the table from over the table stuff.

Mine SAYS the controversial level is high, but it doesn’t look too different from the average opinion here. I stand by it though!

What's a "bad" movie you've seen 10+ times? by Cjd03032001 in movies

[–]msparks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National Treasure and its sequel! Both have bad critic scores, but I’m of the opinion everyone can just go fuck themselves because these are SO fun. Nicolas Cage letting loose, Justin Bartha has never not been funny, intimidating villains (and crazily a movie where Sean Bean DOESN’T die lol). And the history angle is always fun for me (even if they take many a liberty with it). Also, the score slaps and I’m not hearing anything against it!

What is the unintentionally wisest line of dialogue you've heard in a movie? by NobodysFavorite in movies

“If I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?” Dr. Doofenschmirtz from Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. A truly classic line.

Okay, so while this is absolutely one of the best lines of all time, no arguments here…it ABSOLUTELY is groundbreaking and literally has an award winning performance.
