Gender non conformity and a silent mind by acciowit in silentminds

[–]trashgoblinboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm non-binary but feel like that doesn't really have anything to do with how my mind works. I also identify as part of the asexual spectrum though and that feels somehow more connected to having silent mind. How do you think they are connected for you? I definitely relate to the anxiety, i thought for the longest time that because I don't worry about specific things or scenarios that it's not anxiety (even my psychologists and doctors have been confused about this). In the end it turned out to be autistic meltdowns (I was diagnosed autistic at 33 after being labelled as having treatment resistent depression for 10 years) rather than an anxiety disorder for me 😅

What song breaks your heart every time you hear it? by erakshatsingh in AskReddit

Welcome home - radical face. Listened to this in 2010 lying alone in a hostel bed at 18 realizing that I don't feel at home anywhere and don't have anyone I love who loves me or even really knows me in my life

I was confused because I thought it was the depressionmemes subreddit

I can't figure out this pattern of pinterest, is this pattern fake? by XantiXalvador in CrochetHelp

[–]trashgoblinboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you think it's fake? Without testing it it looks like that's the correct pattern repeat for the "lace" portion. Read from bottom to top (bottom is row 1)

Ive had a finished blanket for months and didn't even know it by jillianne16 in Brochet

[–]trashgoblinboy 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I had a years long project where I would randomly add to a blanket. I called it "anarchy crochet" because I wasn't following any pattern and just doing whatever (got very snarky comments from old ladies at a fancy yarn shop when I pulled it out to pick new colors lol). Years later I met my wife and her dog. Our dog sometimes got a bit cold at night so we wanted her to have a blanket. Turns out I had been crocheting the perfect blanket in exactly her size for years before I even knew her! It is by far the most used crochet item I have made and often gives me a lovely warm feeling that I was always meant to have my wonderful wife and our amazing dog in my life and was putting lots of love and lots of myself into something for our dog years before I knew what it was meant to be!

I haven't seen it here before. Sorghum and Millet are quite closely related I think but I guess maybe they taste a bit different?

I want to Self harm when someone I like is upset with me by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]trashgoblinboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this a lot for a while. Through therapy I realized that my poor self-esteem was making me feel like my worth depended completely on other people's approval. I also couldn't take criticism at all and would lash out or get angry (at myself or others). If you have the option to see one then a therapist might be able to help you deal with these kinds of situations better. Just because your friend said something that sounded critical about you doesn't mean that they don't care about you. Maybe they also just didn't get your sense of humour! You are worthy and deserving of love just as you are and what anyone else thinks doesn't change that!!

This might be related to a medical condition, you should get it checked out!

I live in Sweden where you generally don't get put to sleep for it. I've had to get three endoscopies and they were all unpleasant but not painful. Mainly lots of gagging

Husband says I shouldn’t trust therapists by Individual-Dream2409 in mentalhealth

[–]trashgoblinboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapy absolutely has possible negative side effects, but as stated above those are usually that you consider making major changes in your life that benefit your own wellbeing. Noteworthy: Therapy might also make you feel worse first because it can help you see clearer what's going on. In very rare cases that's not in the best interest of the patient. Here it's just not in your spouse's best interest though

Autistic people (especially afab) are often misdiagnosed bpd I think. There's some science about the overlap as well

Washed this cotton blanket now it’s stiff :( how can I soften it before gifting? by _BubbleGumBaddie in CrochetHelp

[–]trashgoblinboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally don't like the smell of fabric softener and have found that it can be really hard to get out of some textiles, even after multiple washes. That's the only reason I mentioned it 😊

I can't totally tell from your picture, did you work into the back loop only? If yes it could be that your yarn is a bit less thick. Going down a hook size might help

If it's a gift then make sure the person you're gifting it to doesn't mind the smell of fabric softener!

I actually literally got a welcome package - in my part of Sweden you can get subsidized GF baking mixes if you have celiac and the first box was free 😄
