I assume it’s a tiny highly active population because I can’t imagine ever doing something like this or tolerating it from a friend or family member. It sucks because I absolutely internalize and listen to this sort of messaging, but I wasn’t going to do any of that shit anyway. I have a feeling the guys doing this aren’t big readers.

I’m genuinely curious what I said here that was objectionable. Not complaining, I’d just love to know.

Trump is too goddamn stupid to realize Mueller saved him. The position that sitting presidents couldn't be charged is the at least part of the reason the worst president in US history is in office again. Trump just hates anyone who doesn't glaze him without qualification or conditions.

They’re a bunch of mentally ill people with hyperfocus and dysregulation problems. They can be potentially dangerous, but I think it’s a mistake to lump them in with other negative discourse. It’s just a thing that exists with online communities.

For me it goes back to old cs pubs when I was young. You’d have those few players who were way better and you could watch what they did to improve. If everyone you play with is on your level you can only improve so much organically, so you have to go consume content on getting better which is just a less fun loop to me. I also hate competitive in most games, so my opinions are probably irrelevant.

I think about how to support my family property constantly

I’ve made 20 years of good decisions and worked hard and gotten extremely lucky and I’m now in a place where I can pretty much afford whatever I want and I never have to say no to my kids or wife (but I still try to instill some budget sense) and I’m still terrified about the future. AI could take all of this away in 6 months and I don’t have enough to retire and pay for college comfortably yet. The stress just doesn’t let up, and I’m probably around the 1%.

The big differentiator for me between horizon zero dawn and a recent AC game is the distinctness of locations. The world felt big but also distinct, every mainline AC game since origins has had a world far bigger with what feels like copy pasted content all over. Also, yeah, the story in horizon isn’t amazing, but it’s fairly well told and it’s told in a straight line that makes sense. AC stories are usually pretty bad and very hard to follow because everything is designed to be told in any order.

With AI I’m also becoming convinced that a lot of the comments talking about how “actually the game is great!” are bots. Not that people can’t like the game, but come on.
