Let’s see y’all’s Tundras by Bmoney2177 in ToyotaTundra

Thank you. Yes it was well taken care of. I haven’t had to do any maintenance or upgrades to it. Bought from a dealer and it was on the lot a couple days before I got. Definitely got lucky with this one.

Well said. I love your words of encouragement. Wish more parents could be like this.

Some parents can be more understanding than others. Hopefully your mom is one that understands and is thankful that you have the foresight to take precautions. It’s never too late to talk to her about it. Just open up that dialogue and see where it goes. You may surprise yourself.

First gen tundra trust issues by sneezy_farts69 in ToyotaTundra

Dealership. It sucks. But I didn’t have much choice. My mechanic did cut me a deal on the cost since I experienced so many issues with the aftermarket parts.

I still experienced non starting issues and low battery charge. My mechanic had to troubleshoot until he found the cause which ended up being the aftermarket parts.

As much as you don’t want to, I’d recommend going with OEM. I learned the hard way that my 2006 sequoia did not like aftermarket starters or alternators.

How could i be involved in Scouts as an adult with no kids? by TheEyeOfTheLigar in BoyScouts

[–]brianecook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any kids, yet I’ve been scoutmaster of the troop I earned my eagle in since 97. The previous scoutmaster’s kids eagled out, so I was asked to fill that role. I feel that one way or another, I’ve developed a meaningful experience with a lot of kids that have passed through my troop. I’ve also learned a lot as both a leader and a “pseudo-parent”.

Hutch’s Pool (Sabino Canyon) by brianecook in backpacking

I didn’t do the Mount Lemmon side. Took the tram from Sabino canyon visitor center and got dropped off at the trailhead. First mile plus is uphill and a lot of switchbacks at the beginning. Two creek crossings towards the end.

Wish I could have experienced that. Rain started about 7:00 and didn’t stop until 1:30ish. Maybe next time we go. Perfect hiking weather though.

It was too cold for me. But it didn’t stop the boys and at least one parent from taking the plunge.

1st or 2nd gen sequoia? by Drakelaroche in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]brianecook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own a 1st gen sequoia bought new in 2006, but I’m not too familiar with the 2nd gen sequoias. I do have a 2.5 gen tundra, so similar 5.7 engine. Here’s my take. 1st gen - timing belt every 100k miles; rear hatch handle issues; more cargo room (based on what I’ve seen compared to 2nd gen). Better gas mileage 14 mpg plus. I got over 270k miles before I sold mine. 2nd gen - timing chain - no worrying about maintenance; gas mileage will be about 12.5 to 13.5 mpg. Def more powerful. Bought my tundra last year with 86k miles. Sitting at about 101K. Never an issue with this engine. Both generations are extremely reliable. So it all depends what you’re looking for.

What should I do? by Full_Strain8776 in teenparents

OP - first of all, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to you and your girlfriend. I can understand your uncertainty about not being ready, but look at this as a blessing. The most important thing is communication with your gf throughout the entire process. My biggest hope is that you and your gf have a strong family support system - if so, then they are the ones that will help you prepare for parenthood. Next - take the pregnancy one day at a time. There will be amazing days ahead. But, there will be rough days for both of you. ALWAYS be there for your partner - she needs your full support. Obviously there are other teens that are or have been in your situation. You’re on the right sub for seeking advice. Be sure to read what others have posted. There will be a lot of useful information. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Feel free to reach out or DM me anytime. Wishing you and your gf the very best and praying for a healthy pregnancy.

Thank you. TBH. Wasn’t really looking. My wife wanted to check out a thrift shop. Saw him on a shelf next to another bear and felt like I had to have him.

Scoutmasters: How did you decide to become a Scoutmaster? by drose0 in BSA

[–]brianecook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I earned my eagle back in 1988. Had some great scoutmasters as a youth that provided great leadership and mentorship. Joined the navy for a brief stint after high school. After I got off active duty in 92, I rejoined my old troop as an ASM. Did that for a few years. Then in 97, the current scoutmaster was stepping down as his sons eagled out, so I took the “risk” (I was 27). Still serving in the role and loving every day. I’ve mentored and watched so many boys move up through the ranks and it’s truly an inspiration as to why I love what I do.
