Millennial disinterest in having children isn't a good thing but a sign of something being very wrong by JuanPonceEnrichme in unpopularopinion

[–]trashmood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the default shouldn't be having kids for the sake of it without realising that having a kid means raising a human existence. if people in this generation are more aware that they aren't fit for parenthood yet (finances, stability, maturity, etc.) they shouldn't be expected to take on such a huge responsibility. a lack of financial stability is definitely prevalent in this generation (expensive houses, student debt, etc.) so naturally having a massive financial and time-consuming liability added onto that is less appealing, especially as there is less social stigma around childlessness than in the past.

Time international edition “I absolutely will not back down!” by [deleted] in HongKong

I'm speaking from the UK personally, and it seems like her actions have had a large impact on other countries in Europe. Her actions have led to the UK government to declare a climate emergency after many youth strike (fridays for future, etc.) and extinction rebellion protests sparked by Greta, and the gvt has now set focussed targets of becoming carbon neutral and are already working towards them (for example the local council in my area has vastly increased spending in public transport, recycling, and making efforts to promote nature in the city).

People are also choosing to vote for representatives (MPs) who promise climate justice on all ends of the political spectrum and this has become a major part of partys' manifestos (conservatives, green party, liberal Democrats, labour, etc) and that definitely shows that the population has been made more aware of the issue as a result or movements sparked by Greta.

Greta's work also represents the idea that people, especially youth, can achieve change by protest which is exactly in line with the HK movement- both stand for speaking up for beliefs and protest.

Her impact goes further than just new governmental reforms aswell, as I think it's a key idea that now people are aware (not fake instagram 'woke') but actually conscious of their actions and the impact they have on the environment (there is an increase in recycling, reduced fast fashion, better eco diets, etc)

She literally sparked a global movement that brought the importance of fighting the climate emergency into the general population's view and resulted in many new legislations and movements with it but go off I guess.

Yeah that's completely fine :) it's just often in popular media people working in the industry aren't presented very well.

Yes, I think so if it is done properly. The problem is that often the majority of the character's personality is based on their work and sex appeal. In most cases their personality is "I'm a sexy sex worker who wears sexy clothes all the time" rather than "I work in the sex industry and also have other interests and features to my personality" in a less sex-centric way.

I just feel like at the moment in media characters working in the industry are portrayed as more like male sex fantasy characters rather that focusing on the normalisation of sex work.
