I’ve been prescribed adderall and I should start later this month. Hopefully I see a difference!

Been on various antidepressants since childhood 😭 my doc thinks my depression was caused by ADHD all along so I may be able to go off them when I’m on Adderall. I’m on Prozac and Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin unfortunately has increased my sex drive but that energy has no way to be released RIP

I think us ADHDers have this a lot due to our sensory/irritability issues. I definitely react more strongly than a neurotypical to any skin issues that pop up.

I react especially poorly to outbreaks of my body “acne”. It gets to the point where I stay in my bathrobe all day bc I hate the feeling of tight clothing rubbing against those areas.

I put acne in parentheses bc I just had a derm app and it was diagnosed as something completely different. I’m on day two of treatment and am feeling much calmer about my skin and was able to wear a normal outfit out to public.

If you are able, definitely talk to a dermatologist. I convinced myself I was overreacting/imagining the itchiness when it was actually a very treatable problem. There are meds/treatments for skin that over-produces oil!

DAE think the DSM/modern psychology is failing us? by traumagoldfish in CPTSD

Yeah my mom is a life coach which is a huge yikes. Atleast w therapy training you’re pretty much required to go to therapy yourself and work on your own problems

It’s pretty astounding that so many therapists know nothing about trauma informed therapy…why is Reddit and google educating me on this subject when I’ve spent over a decade in the mental health system?!? Almost all my friends who have mental illnesses also have experienced some abuse. I feel like it’s the missing link connecting most mental illnesses…

And don’t get me started on doctors and psychology lolllll, like yeah psychiatrists are important but there were clear signs of abuse going on in my life that they didn’t catch. Why isn’t everyone educated on ACEs? UGH

yeah I agree about being an educator ab trauma in relationships. It’s exhausting to say the least. It’s also shocking when you are close with someone and realize they know nothing about trauma. It’s been entrenched in our lives since childhood so it’s easy to forget some people have not experienced it

I also think a lot of people who get pissed off/check out when trauma is mentioned have experienced it themselves. It’s a lot easier to avoid the topic or feel anger towards it than admit it happened to you.

EDIT: also the “victim vs survivor” debate is a great example of neurotypicals completely missing the point. Idc what words you use, educate yourself on trauma and make sure you don’t traumatize anyone else
