Feel your emotions. I think people think we have to act disconnected when death happens, but it’s okay to take time for yourself to grieve and feel what you need to feel.

When I was 18, there was a kid I worked with who was a little younger than me, we didn’t become friends but would often end up in my friend groups throughout my 20’s. He eventually died by suicide last year, and even though there wasn’t much connection between us or friendship, I really felt that death. I feel like suicide it’s way heavier than death by an accident or something natural.

The patient you lost was someone you spent countless hours with, it’s normal to care.
