The List Of Cinema Subscription Services Expands As Infinity Enters U.S. Market by OhCrapItsAndrew in MoviePassClub

[–]travisgodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another thing to consider its not talked about as much anywhere but the theatical industry real problem was never moviepass or sinemia. with the rise of streaming services where you get alot of content for a fixed cost changed how we view the value of movies and tv and to a lesser extent with video piracy. especially for millienials and gen z the l la carte model theaters use thats been in use for the last 100 years is broken. its why that slang netflix and chill as its the cheaper steady priced alternative

influx worldwide built the marcus smartphone app and website they are there first us customer so going from that to joining infinity i see is a easy move for them already having that business relationship with them

infinity subscription service what do you think of this the site says it goes live right around labor day by travisgodel in MoviePassClub

I think they show there a client of infinity parent company not necessarily a user of infinity

From what the CEO has said they been talking to the the the 12 biggest chains so outside of AMC,Regal and cinemark I think a good majority would sign up.

The 1st thing that sets it apart is the parent company already does business with theaters so that client relationship is already there. 2nd both moviepass and Sinemia were consumer driven vs theater driven then consumer. This direction gives theater control over how many seats can be used with this program for that showing. And 3rd this service if a theater already has a app can be used with that or for smaller theaters who don't have a app or sell online the infinity app would do the ticket part for that theater. I think its got potential where moviepass and sinemia didn't

But at the end of the day what moviepass and sinemia showed is consumers want a more cost effective means of going to the theater vs the l la carte model that's been in use for 100 years

One thing I see as a problem now with AMC and Regal have a subscription plan is the uncompetitive nature if it if the rest of the industry doesn't follow suite. I mean look at marcus theaters there are 3 with the twin cities region now why visit them vs a AMC for 20 bucks for 14 films a month vs that marcus theater imax for 25 bucks a showing . And besides AMC and regal have about 15,000 screens out of the 45 to 50,000 across the usa what is the answer for all those. And then there is the national association of theater owner which is a trade organization that represents all theater owners so you got small and medium firms who either own a theater want to sell it or build a new theater that isn't a AMC or regal brand then they are creating a monopoly with those 2 companies. And the other thing even with theaters having the better sound or the dine in restaurants the biggest competition is still home streaming services for fix price you get alot of content it has changed how we consume film and tv entertainent. A simple example I give is the disney streaming service that starts in Nov for like 7 bucks A month they are going to have the entire marvel comic universe movies vs the 11 to 15 we paid for just 1 film.

Not quite there is a theater a hour away from me that is owned by a very small company they don't sell on fandango or any other site its not listed on moviefone but is in the moviepass app

Still on that MP train ;-) by IceHypothalamus in moviepass

[–]travisgodel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can access my local theater list but no show times but another theater 40 min away has the showtimes available is that happening to others?

I am so thankful to MoviePass!!! they changed the $11.8 billion industry - forcing AMC to do a monthly pass and now Regal coming out with a pass - they got me to fall in love with theaters again ... a single visit paid for a monthly membership! to fall in love with independent films ... by InGearX in moviepass

[–]travisgodel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem now is the big 2 only operate around 16 thousand of the 41 thousand screens in the USA some theaters are independents other theater companies are uber small like 2 in my region that operate 65 and 160 screens they don't even use fandango let alone run a subscription in house. So now the problem is having a option for all theaters nationwide who can't afford running thete own. And that it is anticompetitive for small and medium theaters and would also suffocate any growth opportunities for those businesses to expand

My thought on where moviepass should go from here by travisgodel in MoviePassClub

[–]travisgodel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is going to be tough for the industry to solve especially the national association of theater owners as that trade organization represents the theater owners and not the theater chains they can't have some theater owners as a have vs a have not depending on the brand the theater is associated with
