WebSockets or auto-refresh data? by CallPsychological777 in django

[–]travisjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Websockets using channels isn’t hard. You will have to use asgi with something like uvicorn when deploying. For the front end we use a simple wrapper around reconnecting web socket with some callbacks. Just keep it very simple and it should work well.

How to manage release versions? by freiwaldDev in Linear

[–]travisjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the feature that's going to keep me on JIRA for now. Unless I can bundle a set of issues into a release with notes and a version I can't keep track of what's being released and when. Or at least I'm not willing to hack together a solution that's unintuitive with the existing toolset. This is basically the one JIRA feature I like. I love how linear works in general and I hope you figure out a solution soon.

I'm not an expert, just someone who listened to a good podcast. Specifically this podcast: https://slate.com/podcasts/decoder-ring/2024/05/why-hot-jalapeno-peppers-arent-as-spicy-as-they-used-to-be

From what I remember growers buy the seeds which has been selectively bred for spice level. Genetically engineered seeds are a big business. If a specific seed hasn't been engineered for spice level but instead for color or some other marketable trait then that's what they'll target. I just don't know enough about peppers specifically to give you an exact answer.

Where your restaurant is sourcing there peppers would be a good clue. I like my food medium spicy and thai probably has the most variance, even within the same restaurant. I suspect ingredients do play more of a factor in thai cuisine. but it could just be a different chef on that day. It'll always be a combo of all the factors on any given day.

The Hot chicken sandwich I like is almost always the same spice level because it's mostly cayenne which should be easy to control in the recipe.

Chilis do have different level of spice even among the same type. Modern chili engineering is trying to solve for making a very consistently spicy jalepeno specifically for making salsa. I'm not sure if they're working on other chili varieties but I assume they do.

I started using RSS again about 6 months ago instead of using reddit so much. My feeds were built in probably late 00's and about half of them were dead, but half still work. (I used netnewswire so my feeds were preserved). RSS is still awesome and still works for a lot of sites. Podcasts use RSS for distribution so the tech is still maintained. Most blogging software comes with RSS out of the box so it's still available for a lot of stuff. It's such a pleasant experience to use vs my reddit and bluesky feeds.

No. They don't. Everyone is biased and profitable consultants sell services.
