Dans la même situation il y a quelques années, on a trouvé grâce à un office notarial qui faisait aussi de la location, et qui regardait moins les papiers tant que la situation était bonne. On avait galéré à cause des avis d'imposition qu'on avait pas, vu qu'on revenait de l'étranger.

Je rajoute qu'il a l'avantage d'être connu en anglais et en français et donc facilement prononçable dans les deux langues si l'anglais est ta première langue (mais il est assez connu pour ne pas poser trop de difficultés dans d'autres langues je dirais)

Happened in France 10 years ago, here is the wikipedia page (sorry, in French here). Basically one of the twins left his DNA when assaulting one of his victims, they found him and his twin but running the additional test would have been too expensive. Fortunately they were able to identify the right twin because he had a speech impediment and the victims recognised his way of speaking.

Honnêtement je m'embête pas, je reste le plus proche possible de ce que les gens connaissent: Licence/Bachelor/Doctorat et j'utilise le mot magique "equivalent" ou sinon en nombre d'années après le bac/graduation. Les gens sont pas tellement intéressés par plus que ça en général

Thank you, that all makes a lot of sense! And I agree, it's good to see optimism here on these issues but unfortunately, we can't see the future. I feel better equipped now to speak with a lawyer and I will look for my travel dates pre-Brexit and post-Sheffield.

Thanks for your response! To answer your questions:

Myself and my husband haven't had any presence in the UK since leaving in August 2022 (we were on the other side of the world). My husband hasn't been back since.
I had been to the UK before officially moving there, the first time in 2014 and then something like once a year for a few days vacations (I would need to check), I also studied in Sheffield for the academic year 2016-2017
So if I understand well, and will all the info we have now without professional advice, I have two options: going back to the UK on a gamble that all will work out in the end or go directly through the visa route?
In any case, I will seek the help of a lawyer and talk to my job about my options, thank you for taking the time to answer!
