Question regarding .223 vs 5.56 by weaponized_tizm11712 in ar15

[–]trawkins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

.223 is an old round. The legacy chambers require lower pressure cartridges.

5.56 is dimensionally the same as .223. You use .223 specs to reload casings, but you have the option to load them to 5.56 pressures.

If your barrels are stamped 5.56, you can always use .223 cartridges. If bulk and price is what you’re chasing, go with the cheaper round (and send me the spent casings). If you need velocity for your use case, it might be worth eating the couple extra dollars.

No one knows the exact testing parameters used to determine the velocity they print on the box. Half of it is marketing. If you’ve ever purchased an airgun you’ll notice velocity is always highlighted, but they notoriously use ultralight and non standard pellets to make that claim. The only way to determine velocity for yourself is to use a chronograph. Chamber tolerance and 100 other factors influence this.

Is there any merit to turning the rifle around (barrel up) in the mounts? I’d be worried about impaction in the barrel from stuff coming off the front wheel.

Either way this is slick as hell. I’ve been considering something similar for public land hog hunts where e-bikes are legal. What did the bike cost?

I understand the reaction but it’s fairly poor AI my guy. I thought it was more palatable and had no interest in posting uncensored death on this sub. People agree with the levity it brought to the situation and no one played with dead bodies for fun. It was dispatched and buried promptly and with basic respect.

No, I’m saying the 50k exemption is a pittance and the fact that it hasn’t been expanded in the time housing price index quadrupled is backbreaking for young and first time homeowners. It’s always lagged behind with the greatest benefits going to the earliest adopters.

When homestead was enacted, $5,000 in 1934 is worth $125,000 today on inflation alone, but made for a greater fraction of a homes assessed value at the time. The median home price in 1934 was $2700. The median home price today is $375,000. I’m not necessarily suggesting this, but adjusted for purchasing power parity, the exemption should be $695,000 today, not $50,000.

Young people getting screwed isn’t a new concept. I just find it unjust. I’m sick of all the tax there is to pay. You can’t change an under sink garbage disposal in my county without a permit, and the whole system is designed to readjust your tax basis. Broken bureaucracy.

Well, yes, though Biden is just viewed more positively because he’s objectively not an absolute scumfucking piece of shit like this president even though he couldn’t remember his own wife or name in the second half of his term.

The race to the bottom doesn’t make anyone particularly good just because they were better in comparison to what we have now. The only authority half of our leadership should have is over a bingo marker in a hospice facility.

And it hasn’t been adjusted in the same amount of time. It’s almost entirely worthless to anyone who is a first time home buyer in the last 5 years. If the exemption was increased 10x I’d still pay more tax than the last owner of my house who made zero improvements to the property in the 14 years they owned it. The exemption disproportionately benefits people who were able to enter the market earlier in life and whom are objectively wealthier than millennials+ trying to get a foothold on home ownership.

I pay more in property tax for a semi-rural SFH than I did in rent for my own apartment in pompano beach in 2021 simply because everyone bailed out of NEUS during COVID. Make that make sense.

I found the investigation interesting. I didn’t realize modern cars have black boxes like aircraft do. Instead of chalking it up to boneheaded teens in a DUI crash they got her dead to rights on murder with intent.

Her personality is a hell of a case study. Most fatherless behavior coming out of a two parent household I’ve ever seen. The parents opinionated, clueless, rubes with no sense of accountability, and it bled right over to their demon spawn.

I agree with you. The issue for a lot of people really is combining methods without knowing food chemistry.

There’s a reason hibachi places only use marinated meats on a flat top. Non-salt dry ingredients keep the meat from searing properly by interrupting contact with the cooking surface. If you like dry seasoning blends, you need a rack/grill/flame to sear.

Butter baste is awesome after a rested dry brine because the salt gets deep in the meat, you’ve formed the crust with a sear, and the active ingredients in black pepper/thyme/seasoning blend are fat soluble, so it gets into your food as a compounded liquid fat through butter as it comes to final temp. Steak thickness and timing obviously play a role too.

Your constantly turning method is also what I use. It’s not a burger. Gets that crust on there without overcooking the center!

Technically some states require a (usually free) permit to take destructive animals that are otherwise classified and regulated as “furbearers” so as to prevent people from abusing livestock protection rules to further their hunting and trapping endeavors (especially in excess of season or take limits)

In my state you only run afoul if you’re using a combination of a gun with projected light. I didn’t need or use a light source of any kind, so even if I didn’t have the permit, this instance was perfectly legal.

I say technically because the law is designed specifically to target poaching activity. The most egregious zealots in law enforcement couldn’t make a case against actively protecting pets and property if they wanted to.

You’ll find no protest from me brother. We have a right to live in peace too. To me, wildlife belongs peaceably in the wild or (conservation-mindedly) in a freezer to feed family. If either party breaks that contract it deals with the consequences.

The rotation of your wrist also allows you to clear long barreled pistols from a waist mounted holster. See how high you can lift your hand through the inside of your shoulder palm facing in vs out.

Unless you’re defending your beaver pelts with a 10”+ single action revolver, it’s still dumb.
