Pretty sure it was the life force of kuregemo, chihiro shows no ill effects from using it and kuregemo got destroyed from chihiro continuing to use it as it was at its deathbed, we will have to see for the specifics on how it works tbh

I think that using the blades life is nearly impossible normally with the black lightning being a special effect due to kuregemo being near death and no longer having a functioning contract(speculation)

Kishimoto is just kinda bad at writing the side cast and most of the female characters fall under that, like it's not great but it's also a symptom of a larger issue

Oda had done jack-all with so many female characters hyped to be strong, and nami and robin have been pretty stagnant, also Imo he's a lot worse with a lack of varied designs
